So so haircut

Hi everyone,last week I went to my stylist and got a layered shag. It's okay, except I think I'm going to keep it layered but shape it into a bob. The problem I'm having is, my layers seem to be very choppy and do not lay very neatly and are very noticable. What technique should he use to accomplish the look I'm looking for. Also, my right side has many more layers then the left and is much thinner (I'm sure because of the extra layers). What will my stylist have to do to get rid of some of these layers on this side but still keep the layered style?. I just want it to match the left side.Thank you,Rachael
