Horrible doesn't even begin to describe the horror that is my hair!

I just moved to a new town and had to pick a new stylist, I met a lady who said she owned she and her husband own salon and it just happened to be right down the street from my home ~ fabulous, couldn't have asked for better!

She responded to all of my questions and assured me that she had extensive knowledge in highlighting semi long hair... she made me feel comfortable.

As soon as I sat down in the chair this morning she started immediately to start to section off my hair without even consulting me, I had to ask her what colors she'd be using, how heavy or light she'd be going ~ by this point I thought she must have assumed I wanted what I already had, chunky buttery highlights on my medium brown hair, mainly on top.

She then said she was going a bit heavier than before, that it would be better for summer - Ok, no big deal, I am game for change every now and then.

When she blew it out I was amazed at just how much blonder I was - it was almost ALL blonde, except where it was blotchy brown! And when I say BLOTCHY, I do mean BLOTCHY!!!!!!

I could have butchered myself like this at home with a $10 drug store highlighting kit! I said right then and there NO WAY this is awful, I demnded to know what she had done and how she could have done such a poor job, this was beyond unprofessional, this was a nightmare!

She then tried to blame my past highlights and I quickly said NO, can't be, my roots were at least 2.5 inches long and the problem with my hair now is that the root was extremely blonde, then down the shaft it went brown and then was the color of the previous highlight!!!!!!!!!!! Can you image!!!!!!! And this was ALL OVER MY HEAD!!!! (the color just started and stopped in various places all over my head and also had those skip marks you sometimes get, know what I mean, where the color wasn't applied right or dripped????).

She said she could fix it, so here we go, another hour and half, her husband washed out the foils because now she was busy with another client and he was so rough with my head and used extremely COLD water to wash my hair, it was disgracful!

When she rough blew out my hair she used a square plastic bristle brush, I could hear my hair snapping and breaking!!!!!!!

Once it was semi dry I could see that the damage had not been rectified but had WORSENED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I now not only had the blond roots that turned brown down the shaft then back to blonde but I now had huge patches of almost white blocks at the top of my head on each side of my part!!!!! It was horrifying!

I changed and came out and looked in the mirror at the register in the sun and wanted to cry, she walked up to me smiling and saying "how pretty it looked" I said you have got to be kidding, I am sorry but your saying its "pretty" cannot mask this, she knew it was wrong I could see it in her eyes but she was still trying to fake me out.

She then said that she had done all she could and that it was the fault of the original highlights and that the problem with them just showed up now as being a bad job with the new highlights today and I said GOOD GRIEF Do you really expect me to believe that?

She then said that I obviously was trying to get out of paying for the highlights, OH MY I cannot tell you what I wanted to say and do to her next! I did however inform her that I could pay for mine and everyone elses in there if I so chose to that it wasn't the money but that it was going to cost what she charges and then some to correct what she had done to me if that was even at all possible!

I then asked that she bring her other stylists over to look at what she had done and she said that I didn't owe her anything and that she didn't want me to pay her and then she walked away...I should have followed her and demanded that they all look at what she had done, but I just wanted to crawl into a corner and fade away...

I seriously want to sue this woman!!!!!!!!! Well, I'd really like to bust her mouth, truth be told!

I am going to find another salon tomorrow, I doubt I can do anything about it now as its been through too much today, I'll just have to live with it BUT I am going to send her and her husband the bill for whatever it costs to correct this problem, don't you agree they should pay to fix my hair since she did such a poir job on it?

And trust me, this is bad, really bad ~ anyone who saw this would think that I did it myself in the dark, no joke!

I cannot believe this woman is even a stylist, its that bad.

Any suggestions????????

Sorry I read you earlier today and I didn't have time to respond.

I love how you stood your ground in the salon, and didn't pay for something that was so not what you asked for. Congratulations thats more than most would do.

Did you have have good consultation with this new Stylist? Especially a stylist that is going to color or highlight your hair for the first time. Sit somewhere other than the styling chair, look at books (pics) together and really talk about what you wanted andwhat the results will be?

I would only go to a new Stylist by reccomendation of happy clients with great looking cuts and color...especially if you see someone with a highlight like your looking for. Ask them who does their hair. (and not just the salon, but the spicific stylist)

Good luck, with your corrections...do your homework and find someone who can handle it.

Let us know

Also, check with the Better Business Bureau, or Chamber of Commerce in your area and see if you can file a complaint against her business. I'd also talk to whomever it is that does the licensing for beauticians and file a complaint against her. You may even find that other people have done the same. I doubt that it's an isolated incident that your hair was so butchered. It sounds like she doesn't have true knowledge of what she is doing, and is flying by the seat of her pants with a lot of it.

The salon that I go to in my area is in a mall, and the people that work there have no qualms with telling a customer that "Oh, John is way better with highlights than I am. I can do your cuts, but make an appt. with him for highlights." or that so-and-so is the updo master...etc. Maybe she does good cuts, but sucks at colouring. (which it sounds like she does!)

Good luck with it, and I hope that your hair grows fast and you can forget about all this soon!
