QuoteReplyTopic: Help!!! My extenrions are ripping out at the root. Posted: July 25 2003 at 4:53am
I just got cold fusion hair extensions about 2 weeks ago. I paid $4,000 for them thinking that I would go to the best place so that I would have a quality healthy procedure. When one fell out today, I noticed that the roots of my natural hair came out too. I freaked out, and looked closely at all the other extensions on my head and noticed that most of them had 5-10 hairs plucked out of my scalp. I've been using a normal brush, and have just learned that I was supposed to be using a special brush. I even asked the day I was having them done and she said, no, any normal brush would do. Now I feel like I am going to go bald. Should I remove them now because they are only hanging on 1/2 the amount of hair as initially? Someone please help me!!! Help, Help, Help!!!
Hi, I do cold fusion extensions as well. However, I do not use great lengths. Something has to be done about yours asap. feel free to call me ~b 973-615-4971
I ALSO GOT EXTENTIONS DONE 1-1/2 WEEK'S AGO AND MINE ARE ALSO FALLING OUT AT THE ROOT I CALLED THE PLACE WHERE I GOT IT DONE TO TELL THEM I WANT THESE OUT! THEY ARE ALSO GREAT LENGTHS, DOES ANYBODY KNOW EHY THIS IS HAPPENING? I HAVE HAD ABOUT 4 FALL OUT AND IT'S ONLY BEEN NOT EVEN 2 WEEK'S
I wouldn't worry about just losing a couple extensions in a few weeks. Now when you lose about 20 like I did then there's a problem. Mine was due to medication I was taking though. I know of people who have had Great Lenghts for about 4 months and they lost about 10 bonds. I only got to keep mine in for about 2 months because I lost a total of 40 bonds and I have about half the hair I used to before the bonds. And a message for geongeon, I have the bald spots to prove it! Hope this helps!
i would just like to say if its any help the very first time i had extensions put into my hair i lost quite a bit of hair the folical was also attached making me worry all the more ...apparently the softest part of the scalp is at the nape and just behind the the ears this is where mine fell out ...if the attached hair is to heavy for your own hair this will cause a pulling sensation and the tension will only lead to breakage or removal of the the folical...this however did not deter me from having the extension re done... i did state not to place the extension around the bottom of the hairline i have had them done time and time again because you pay alot of money it is no guarantee that the job is goin to be any better...
I am a certified socap technician and I have had great success...I teach my clients what products to use and what tools...and you loose 100 hairs a day, which is normal and you will see root with this hair ...this is not a problem...if you loose 10 in a week then you have to worry...when properly applied they DO NOT damage your hair...hope this makes you feel a little better.
I hope this helps... If your hair is breaking or pulling out at the roots then the bonds are probably doing damage and I would have them removed. but you need to be able to determine if they are pulling out or if it is natuaral shedding of the hair. You need to use a soft brissel brush on any extension and not pull or tug at them because it could cause damage. also if the bonds are put into your hair and they don't use enough of your hair it could cause stress on your hair and cause more problems. you may want to have a friend look at your hair compared to the hair in the bond and make sure it is about the same. if not you might want to consider someone else doing your extensions. you can call if you need anymore information...hope this helps you. sincerely, wendy bonner

DONT WORRY>> I also see the hair with the root attached in my bonds, its just hair that would normally be on your floor, because there is a bond there is no where for it to go that why we see it, I had my in and out hundreds of times its OK turst me my hair is ok, just be carefull you dont pull your hair out when putting your fingers through your hair , if the bond grows out too much , then you will pull out your hair I do this somethimes but its ok dont panic.
I have had extension for over 3 years and I also and now wondering if my hair is growing. My stylist said the same thing that its normal for some hair to get hairs in the bond. I normally get more hair lose in my bang area....like I pull on it to much.....I have 18 inch and I am now thinking a lighter 12 inch would be better and lest weight on my own hair. I use a bristle brush from Great Lengths and I only wash my hair every 4 days. I still look at pictures from 3 years ago and think it has not grown at all. I am now considering Tracks?
any info would be helpful..
Thanks

You've reached the point where your hair is as long as it's going to get, considering how you handle it and what you have done to it. It just breaks off at that length. Do you have Great Lengths? That type of extension isn't helpful for improving the health of the hair, though for some people it seems not to cause damage.
Tracks probably wouldn't be an improvement. Imagine losing an entire track at once, with the hair that it was attached to.
Have you tried pinchbraids? Consider shrinkies, too.
Just looking for a few good hair slaves - is that too much to ask?

some people CANNOT grow their hair past certin lengths. peroid. its the way your follicals work. they all have a peroid of when they activally grow hair, then they stop for a while and your hair just sits there, then it falls out. then your follical stops working for a while, and repeats the process.
Some people can grow and grow their hair down to their ankles. some cant get it below their chin.
so its possible the extensions are wearing your hair down, but its also very possible you just wernt ment for long hair.
P.S. lmao @ cant do your own boobs. maybe I should come out with a DIY home boob kit? big cash crop there. Course with my luck Id get people who dont know their a$$ from their elbow and end up with a boob on their neck and one on their thigh.

i have been doing several different types of extentions for years. i do like great lengths a lot. the quality of the hair is the best. $4,000 is an aweful lot. one of the biggest problems i find when pieces fall is that the partings taken are more than 1/4 in. wide, they are not all square and the amount of hair being added is more than the amount on the parting. like the hairline(for instance) needs a very small amount added.otherwise breakage occurs. technicians sometimes add too much hair or take bigger partings to save time.check yours out to see how big they are.they should all be the same size and shape.
