This is not good in the long or short term. Your skin will be stressed out and small blood vessels will be broken. It is not good to subject your skin to extremes of anything.
A few splashes of cool water is better. Nothing will really "close" pores, anyway. This is a myth. Cool water will contract pores slightly after they have been more expanded by heat. But within seconds they return to their normal state.
This is as it should be. Skin is an organ of temperature control and excretion after all.

Thanks Uzma! I have been rubbing ice cube on my face everyday for almost a whole month now. I hate doing it, feels like i'm torturing myself especially when I do it very early in the morning. The only thing that kept me going is because I have a combo skin and I noticed that everytime I apply ice, it actually controls the oilyness on my T-zone for the day.
From now on, I'll just try splashing cold water on my face. Thanks again.
