It's myth, there is no proven fact that your hair seem to grow faster because of a cut. Your hair grows from the inside of your body, therefore a cut/trim will not cause it to grow faster, since that is an element outside of the body.
My mom tells me to stop brushing cause it grows my hair to grow. She said that the woman did that back in the day before they went to sleep. Brush one spot like 100 times

Then explain hair grease. It's an outside element that makes your hair grow or is that a myth as well.

Brushing helps the blood to circulate and travel to the hair strands. If you are just brushing hair (ex. Longer hair) no it won't work but if you are making sure you are getting near the scalp it will help the growth. I'm not saying your hair is going to be shooting out of your scalp, but it helps. Like I said, that is within the body, massaging the scalp to help circulation.

Hair grease is an outside element and it clogs your pores. If it has petrolium in it, which most black hair products do, you should not be using it. Nothing except your diet and health can encourage growth, that works from the inside. You may notice, that everything geared towards black say GROW or GRO, hair is gonna grow no matter what. If hair grew from grease, then your hair should be down to your feet. There is no miracle growth but a well balanced diet does help encourage it. Go to the other section, not the ethnic isle, you will see less petruleum filled products, and their hair grows just fine.
I have not used grease in a year and my fro is growing out of this world. It is growing fine and healthier since I am no longer relaxing it.
