I'm 15 and my hair hasn't gotten any longer than mid- neck length since I was about 8 years old. My hair does break off easily, even though I moisturize and try to keep use of heating tools to a minimum. I do relaxe my hair, but not as often as some women I've met. I only do mine twice a year. I drink lots of water, and I eat foods with lots of protien and calcium. I drink juices most of the time as well. I don't braid my hair becuase I personally don't like the way it looks on me, but I am considering a kind of "Brandy" type extension during the summer. I would really like for my hair to grow a bit longer, so I can manage it better. I've been thinking about taking pills that claim they help stimulate hair growth. But before I do, do they work?

also what I wanted to mention is, could it be hormones? My mom says it's hormones since I'm only 15. Even if it's hormones is there anything I could do?

Hey,
I undertand how you feel. I just turned 18 and I have been struggling to grow my hair since I was about your age.
I just recently started going natural and so far I have seen a improvement.
1) you should not stress yourself out over your hair.
2)be careful when useing suppliments they can be dangerous and deadly.I have struggled with the idea of using suppliments for a while. I thought they were expensive and may not even work which is true. But I have been growing my hair for a year now and I want to step up my regimen to maximize my growth. I use 5mg biotin ( make sure it is mg not mcg i made that mistake and mg is 1000 times biger than mcg) I also use 2000mg of MSM. I also am takeing Formula 37 and vitamin B complex so that the biotin works better. also if you use MSM you may get a few breakouts which is MSM trying to get rid of toxin and one of the way it does that is through your skin. it should go away in a few week if not and if you feel funny about using anything you should quit using it.

I also have used scalp stimulants which work very well. some good ones include emu oil ( pretty expensive though) MSM lotion or MSM powder dissolved in water, sulfur 8 just a little so and be sure to was your hair or at least rinse more offten if your going touse sulfur 8 so you don't clog your pores. also I use this scalp stimuater solution I just have to get the name of it later for you. I have also heard some despreate women useing vick vapor rub and swares that it works. finally i I read one lady using White flowers to stimulate their scalp.

Also you should deep condition your hair at least once a week (i replied to a recent post near this one about good deep conditioners if you want to check what I wrote) and wash your hair at most twice a week. I also recomment rinsing your hair between washes with two table spoons apple cider vinegar and 3 cups of water between washes to give your hair a drink and seal the cuticle.
also don't worry so much about teenage hormones they really don't have much to do with hair growth. they just make you bigger and give you more pimples. you just need to tweek your regimen. I is very hard for african american women to grow their hair. our hair tend to be very fine and delicate ( what out for beakage), dry, prone to damage. some women resort to suppliments because they are they want to see results now now now and they cant wait.

I hope I helped you
good luck
