need some waves

first of all, i am very sorry about annoying everyone here with my posts, but i need answers. i just cut my hair today. i already see waves on the top of my head, but it is alwasys like that. however, there are no waves whatsoever on the sides or on the back of my head. on the back of my hair, the direction is straight. and on the sides, it has no direction. can someone please tell me which way i should brush my hair in order to get waves, and also can someone please tell me what kind of wave grease that they use in order to shape your waves? Help will be appreciated very greatly.
