QuoteReplyTopic: TIPS FOR GROWING OUT Posted: February 18 2005 at 12:03pm
Hello. I'm new here, and I am 15 years old. I received my first relaxer in August of 2004 and it was a sodium hydroxide relaxer. Things were going well as my hair continued to grow and become shiny and straight. I got 1 touch-up in October, and that's when I noticed those sores on my scalp. My mom and I decided to get no more chemicals on my hair. I have not applied any chemicals on my hair since October, but I have applied a naturlaxer which make chemicals grow out of your hair. I have TONS of new growth, but I moisterize daily and shampoo and condition weekly to make sure there isn't any dirt or dandruff. My hair seems to be growing more and more. In Augst of this year, the perm will be out of my hair completely. I was wondering if it was neccessary to cut of my hair off? My mom says that I don't need to, because my hair is getting back to natural because of the naturlaxer and my hair is in good condition because it's clipped and free of rough split ends. I was also wondering if there were any hair-growth tips you might have to get my hair longer. Right now my hair is to my shoulders. I try to eat the right food products, but I need to drink more water. Do you think this will help? Thanks a lot for your time.
Thanks jasmine! Yesterday I bought this natural shampoo made w/ tea extracts and leaves, a conditioner, and the B&B pink oil. I'm going 2 try it out today. Wish me luck! I can't wait for longer hair.

Sorry but u need to be informed, Your hair is NOT natural if you applied chemicals, a naturalaxer is a chemical, it is a relaxer, the name tells it all. If you want to be completely natural, u can either cut your hair off or grow your hair out and trim as you go along. It takes time for hair to grow, but from your story nothing about your hair is natural, unless you think about the new growth.
The naturalaxer is not made w/ chemicals. It is made w/ all natural ingredients. It's a powder that you mix w/ water and conditioner and you smear it on all of your hair (sort of looks like guacamole). That's why they call it a natural relaxer because it's made w/ all natural ingredients, not chemicals, but it still "relaxes" the hair by making the new growth more manageable. Trust me, the naturalaxer doesn't look u had a perm when you apply it. It literally looks like it's turning back into a courser type hair.

Yes, it is made with natural ingredients but it does not make your hair natural. There are plenty of natural chemicals out there, that when added to a substance, hair follicle and so it, it has a chemical reaction. Water and fire are natural, yet they have reactions together. Wind and fire are natural and cause reactions, still chemical. But you can believe what you want, if it makes you happy.
Thanks 4 your help. I didn't mean that my hair was actually back 2 natural, because I do know that once you chemically straigten it, u can't get it back to natural - it's permanent. I'm thinking about having a curl done when the perm grows out.

Jesus I agree with sweet but you do need to be informed. Your hair is not natural in no way shape or form. You think what you are applying to your hair is natural because it says it on the box, girl lets get real, they will put anything on those boxes to get you to buy it. The only way to be natural is either cut your relaxed ends slowly little by little, or get it all cut off and start over. There is a women right now that is suing the darknlovely company because there relaxer made her hair fall out for good, now shes bald and have sore patches all over her head. Thats what a perm will do for your hair. Its just not healthy. But like the above post if thats what you want to do then thats you.
Thank y'all 4 your help. I was not trying to be disrespectful, stubborn, or inconsiderate in any way or form. I already know that my hair cannot turn back to natural because I know that perms are exactly what their name says, "permanent." I gave in and went back to a chemical relaxer. And so far it's doing good and there's practically no breakage. So I am aware of these things and I'm now looking forward for longer, stronger hair growth. I made this post a long time ago, went to a professional stylist who told me that my hair was doing just fine w/ the exception of breakage from not getting a touch-up for so long. I also know people who haven't cut off their relaxed hair and kept it w/o much breakage, but you're right, I also know people who have been tricked by false ads. Thank you for your help because I do know that you all are older, wiser, and more mature. I have complete and total respect for both of you because you are all like sisters to me. You're helpful and generous and I will take your advice and be sure to listen to you as much as possible. May God bless y'all
Hi, hon!! I'm glad you're making the right steps towards healthy hair. How long is your new growth now? That is probably the healthiest part of your hair right now. Are you thinking about cutting the relaxed parts off and starting fresh, if so Cmesweet is great for helping with that!! I applaud you for wanting to go natural, it takes maturity with the stereotypes we are faced with day to day to make a decision like that. I'm glad you're doing it. Everyone is here to help each other with whatever hair decisions we make.I may not be the best person to talk to about transitioning, but I can show my support all the way. God Bless you too!!
Hey Honeydoo! I'm sorry 2 disappoint u, gurl, but I got my hair relaxed again. U see, I had 5 months of new growth and about 3 weeks ago I went 2 get a VERY much needed touch-up. I truly don't regret it at all because relaxed hair is so much better to care for. So yeah, I'm not going natural. But after using Wild Growth Hair Oil, 4 three weeks, I have about 2 inches of new growth already, but I won't get my next touch-up until June. So yeah, sorry about that. But thanks 4 your support. God bless u!
Oh no problem. You know your hair better than I do. How long did you say your hair is now? I've heard of alot of people using the WGO and LOVING it. I've never tried it. Do you put it on your scalp??
BTW, you didn't dissappoint me!! You made the decision that was best for your hair. Don't even worry what I think!! I still have love for you!!
The WGO at first seemed like a great idea. I was using it 1-3 times per week and I didn't start noticing any new growth until the second week. I did notice immediately, however, that my hair was very shiny. A few days ago I was massaging my scalp and I noticed that at the crown of my head, especially, there was SO much growth! So that's when I figured the WGO finally kicked in. It's good stuff. Right now my hair is maybe one inch above the shoulders, but when I get my next touch-up I'm hoping it to be 3 inches or so past my shoulders. That's how it was after 5 months of no chemicals - it was almost 2 my goal length (bra strap). But I needed to cut the split ends, so that's why I haven't reached that goal just yet. And yes, u can put the WGO on your scalp and your hair. However, it did make my scalp itch because of the hair growth and I needed 2 use a moisterizer because of the dryness. It also has a terrible smell lol, like castor oil or something! But I believe it's worth it. Now I only use it once a week - every Wednesday. Hope this helps! BTW, thank u so much for your support, love AND your fantastic ideas! (i.e. the Hair Growth Challenge). Your ideas are so wonderful and it just brings every1 together. U go girl! Much luv and God bless u!
