Hi,

I am new to this board and am happy I found it.  I am debating on whether to perm my hair and let it grow out or cut it short.  I love wearing it short with the sides and back tapered.   I have gotten compliments about it being short as well as when I grow it out.  I am trying to figure why I want to grow it out.  It cost me $55 each time I get a perm which is every 2 months versus the low cost of a haircut.  I have 5 children, 4 boys and 1 girl.  Keeping the boys haircut is quite costly, which is why I choose to have their hair cut versus having mine permed.  My children always come first.  What should I do?  I love the carefree feeling short hair gives but part of me would like to grow it long again.  Any suggesstions would be helpful.  Thanks

Welcome Miss T

I have two children and they keep me running, I couldn't imagine three more -- so I think for you not only the cost of upkeep but the time committment may be factors.

I am new to the board as well, but so far Ihave found the members to be very welcoming and always ready to jump in with good advice.  I think -- based on what you have said that you are beautiful either way -- long or short.  Now me--my face is so round and full -- I need hair  But ultimately to do long hair right, it does take time and effort.  So I would say-- do what your heart really feels, because either way you are too blessed to be distressed.

"And this too shall pass."

I think u should take more time to think about, since u did state that you are trying to figure out "why u want to grow it out".  You are right to have your children come first, although i don't have any children, my suggestion would be to write down the things that are most important to you and what u do to put them first...write a list about the things u do for yourself such as pampering or no pampering. That way you can see and give yourself more time about what you want to do and why u want to grow it out.  I hope that helps.
