Can anyone tell me how to place an international call to American Dream in London?

Their number is listed in the catalogue, but it doesn't list a city code.

I know it's a stupid question, but I've never called overseas before.

Is this correct, London is 8 hours ahead of California?

I want to call them and talk to them about their thermofibre, because they haven't responded to my emails.

I think some of you girls have ordered from them before, are they an ok company to do business with?  I always worry about spending money with a company that doesn't respond to my emails.

Yes, Britain is 8 hours ahead of CA.

I call the UK alot.

I dial (1016868 first-to get 1/2 price calls)
Then dial 011-441- then city code......which I think is 20 for
London.

What is the number you have for them?

same thing here metalgirl. I sent them numerous emails and never a response. I just gave up cause I know how EXPENSIVE international calls can be! And worried about doing business with a company that doesnt respond to mail. When your an international customer you depend on the least costly way to communicate.

SAS-

The number that is listed in their catalogue is:

+44 (0) 208 743 0206

So how would I dial that number?

How much do you think a call there would cost?

I just dialed 1016868-011-44-208-743-0206....and got a ringing
tone. They will not be open for another 2 1/2 hours, or if they
are closed saturday then try monday morning. I will try back
later tonight and see if they answer.

It's weird sometimes you have to play around and miss some of
the beginning or end digits sometimes to get through. I have to
chop up my mums number to be able to get through to her. I
usually have to drop the '0' or occasionally the '1's.

I always use the code 1016868 and I can talk to my mum for 2
1/2 hours for $10. So you would pay about $1-$2 tops if you
use the code. Otherwise you will pay double the price.

Metalgirl~ Yes, this is the right number above you want to dial.

I called back and spoke with Mandy from American Dream.
She is sending me a packet with all prices and hair
available. You do not need a cosmetology license to order from
them. She will be sending me an e-mail with details in the next
hour. I will post her response.

She said the thermofibre.....which comes wefted in 18", 36" and
60"
It can be dyed or permed
29 different shades available

AD makes me nervous too. It seems like a reputable company and their catalog is mind-blowing, but the lack of communication is disconcerting.

Wow, though--they sell 60"? That's impressive--you could double that over and do amazing things with it, I'm sure. :)

Well, the e-mail did not come. I will post when she gets back to
me.

I did mention that a few US e-mails had gone unanswered and
she seemed very surprised by this!!

Ok, guys,

I just called AD.  They do seem very nice and very together on the phone. I guess they will be closed until Tuesday for the holiday, but I actually did get to speak to someone.

He also sounded surprised that the emails are going unanswered.

Anyway, just as SAS said, the Thermofibre is available in the wefted hair and also 18-20" bulk hair.

He said to place an order, I can call and ask to speak with the mail order department and I can pay for the order with a credit card.

I think on Tuesday I will call and order a thermo color ring.

Well, it's 6.15p.m in the UK.....and no e-mail as promised. She
actually said I would have the e-mail in 45 mins and she
confirmed my e-mail address.

Yes, they seem very professional on the phone but they
obviously slack on the e-mail correspondence.

There must be something wrong with the email, cuz they answered my email very promptly - like in a day - and I got my catalog right away after that. And if they seemed surprised that there were unanswered emails from the US, then there's the chance they never received them. There is a lot that can go wrong with email - it's a wonder it works as well as it does! I'd give AD the benefit of the doubt - they're a big and reputable company.

Syren, I use hotmail for email and I know that SAS uses a different email client.  I don't understand how both of our emails would not work?

I have another email through a local ISP, so I'll try emailing them from that one.

By the way, it took about 6 weeks for me receive my catalogue.

Personally, I think it's a general customer-service issue that will hopefully be addressed soon. It's a shame that so many people would like to try their products but are hesitant to do so because they're concerned about service issues.

It took a long time for me to get my catalog, and equally curious was the fact that I never received any email indicating that they'd received my request. Communication is so important in business.

:)
