Can a person use scissors to create layers?
Would it look bad?
Also, can a regular razor be used to make layers? My friend told me that her hairdresser told her to do that, use scissors to make layers.....but im thinking.....wouldnt it look too blunt?
How could she use scissors to make them without it looking bad?
Hey if it works its not that bad of an idea.

Lemme know what you think, thanks, Oh yea, for long hair.

Good grief, are you thinking of going shorter and shorter yet? As an aside, a woman I work with keeps cutting her uneven layers so she`ll have hair of one length. Her hair is much prettier than it was when she had layers. Oh well.

Layers can be created using both the scissors technique and razor technique. However now if you are concerned about it looking to blunt, then if you using the scissors technique than ask your stylist to "texturize" the ends so it blends better Texturize is another term for thinning out where the stylist will use scissors that have what looks like a comb attched to the blade of the scissors so it only cuts into the hair not taking length off but producing less bulk on the ends. It also tends to produce more volume when styled because the ends are lighter in weight.
The razor has the same effect as the thinning shears IT also produces a softer look. Just be careful, if your hair i already damaged or thin looking I wouldnt recommend it because the ends tend to look frayed afterwards. Also be sure that your hairstylist knows how to razor cut hair.
Overall the effect of soft- looking layers can be achieved both ways, but if your hair is thin and fine than its not neccesary to texturize or razor cut layers into the hair. Your stylist can determine which method is better and also what method is more comfortable for them. Hope this helps
