QuoteReplyTopic: Brand New Haar Install *Pics* Posted: May 29 2005 at 4:11am
So after wearing the last batch for 9 weeks, I just got new PlastikHaar
installed today. It's pinchbraids, done by Isaac at Cyberparlor in NYC,
and it's 100% 50mm PlastikHaar. It's a bit less layered than last time,
but more layered than the first time. I slept on it funny, but you get
the idea.
The biggest difference this time, I think, is the color (although you
might not be able to tell from the pics). My real, bleached hair is
quite white, so the Satin/Platinum/Vanille shades (which I was using at
50% before) are a little dark. This time, it's 50% non-UV Perlweiss (a
very white blonde) and 50% Gwen Blonde (a special custom shade I
ordered from Sara, which is itself 70% Perlweiss, 20% Vanille, and 10%
Seiden, I think). If you have time to wait a bit for your order, these
custom blends are awesome. Isaac then blended those two together for an
overall mix of probably 85% Perl, 10% Vanille, and 5% Seiden (did I get
the math right?).
My photographer is still sleeping, so I took my own pics....

beautiful again, jenny..ditto everything everybody else has said.
what did you end up thinking about the "piecey" look - were there any changes in braid number or size?
love it...how many bags of PH?
also -- dorky incidental question - your info before about the hair bleach was so helpful; do you do anything to your eyebrows or leave them natural, darken them? just curious. gathering my data again lol.
Thanks girls. I hadn't realized how superlong this hair is until just
now, hehe. I'm definitely going shorter next time, just for the ease of
it.
CC: I think Isaac added more hair this time. When I came in, he said it
looked a little...something...that it needed more anyway, so we'll see
how it goes. I'd say there are 3 1/2 bags in there.
I actually don't do anything to my eyebrows. They're sort of light
brown/dirty blonde, I guess, and I've often wanted to pencil them
darker, but whenever I try, they end up looking weird somehow (quite
possibly I'm not using the right color)....

You and Amm have probably done more for the marketing of Plastikhaar in the US than any other method. I'd be curious to know how many orders have been inspired from your hair...I know mine was. Very Beautiful!

Well, let's hope so. I know Isaac is *slamming* busy. He was even
before I started posting any pics, so I always book my appointments
*way* in advance. He also makes a lot of wigs, which is really
time-consuming, too. I'm so glad I found him when I did, because the
two extensionists I went to before him trashed my hair beyond
recognition. I was seriously ready to give up.
As for Sara, where would we be without her haar? She has taken synth
and customer service to a whole new level. Which reminds me, I have to
place another order....
Well, in part because photos are invariably stolen and then posted
elsewhere on the Intenet. I've seen photos of extensions I've gotten on
all sorts of websites, in fact.

Watermarking, my lovelies. Ever wonder why every image on my website
has my company name in HUGE LETTERS on it? I could not TELL you how
many times I've found my photo (that braided one on Quinnster's site)
on some teenage girl's Myspace or RateMyFace.com-type place.
And yeah, Jenny, it looks a lot less piecey this time! Are the braids
smaller? By the way, fun trick to re-balance photo colors- if your
walls are white, just open Photoshop, go to Image->Color Balance,
and pull out mostly the yellow and some red (residential lighting is
mostly tungsten, which is orangey) until your walls look white again.
Then whatever -else- is in the photo will be properly balanced, too.
And crap, now you have me wanting white-blonde hair again. Perhaps
that'll be my next install, with half black to match my own hair...
Oh yeah, and when I had white-blonde hair of my own, I left my eyebrows
dark. I have just-barely-not-black eyebrows (about a #4, I'd say) and
dark eyes, and I thought they looked cool with white-blonde hair.
Totally unnatural-looking, but I liked the contrast.
