Hey there

My natural hair color is dirty blonde. About a couple of months ago I needed a chage and wanted to dye my hair brown.. so I did. But the color did not appear on my head like it said it would on the box (don't ya hate that)lol... it came out much darker and almost a red color.

So with the passing of time, my hair has gradually turned a funky cinnamon brown color. (I really am disliking it more and more each day)This is were I need some help. I would desperately like to become a blonde again. Can I dye my hair blonde with that old funky color still visible?

If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. I have been contemplating for a very long time and don't wanna another hair dye disaster.

Dyeing your hair blond won't remove or cover the funky red color. You need to use a color remover to get rid of that. Colorfix is the one that most people like. You can get it at Sally's.

If you have the money, though, I recommend you get this done professionally. Your hair tends to react unpredictably to color treatments, and you don't want any nasty surprises.

You should do a strand test if you decide to do it yourself, always a good first step with a new product. A strand test would have prevented this problem in the first place.

Maybe the next time you need a drastic change you should invest in a nice wig.

Have you tried using a good anti-dandruff shampoo? It helps strip hair color somewhat, but it won't take it out completely.

Hey everyone, thanks for the info. I decided to go with using a color stripper on my hair and than dyeing it blonde. The color stripper was a bad idea (there isnt a Sally's close to me, so I ended up getting Loreal Hair Color Remover from Rite Aid). But the blonde hair dye covered up the mistakes the color remover left. Again thanks! :)
