QuoteReplyTopic: Q about washing hair with pinchbraids Posted: July 19 2005 at 2:36pm
I'm getting a full head of pinchbraids (with human hair) on thursday and i am worried about one thing....my head being dirty. I am so used to washing my short hair everyday and i feel like i smell if i don't wash it everyday....i've never gone more than one day without washing it. the stylist told me to only wash it maybe twice a week....can i use something like a dry shampoo (bumble and bumble powder or PSSSSST) on days that i don't get it wet? i know it's going to get really greasy if i don't do something. thanks!

I washed my pinchbraids every other day and it was fine. Just don't 'scrub' your head - use one of those haircolor bottles with the pointed tip to apply diluted shampoo right onto your scalp and in between the PBs, work it a little with your fingers and rinse well. That way you don't pull on the attachments. Also, don't get conditioner on the roots/attachments and use a looper brush for your roots. That should make them last a long time while letting you wash your scalp so you don't gross yourself out.
Ditto to everything Syren said! Also, the less you wash your hair, the
less oil it produces- your scalp adjusts to your washing regimen, so
try cutting down on the washing and see what happens after a week or
so. Most people over-wash their hair anyway, resulting in oil
overproduction. And yes, you can use dry shampoos.
