yesterday i spent 12 hours in the salon and $300 getting a full head of pinchbraids...She did a beautiful job; the braids are so tiny that you can hardly see them...the thing is, i don't like it, not because she did a bad job, but because it looks bad on ME...i'm at a loss for what to do at this point...i called her about adding more hair in, but i'm not sure that would help it look better....and i feel HORRIBLE about asking her to take it out after she spent so long working on it and i feel sick about spending all that money to just have it taken down after a few days...i thought the long hair would look good on me, but i think it just looks a little silly, quite honestly....i think i've had my hair short for so long that i dont' know what to do with long hair....anyway, i thought maybe you guys could give me some advice. thanks.

i think you are just shocked petal :) If you've gone from short to very long it wll be a shock, like when you go from brunette to blonde you hate it at 1st because its such a shock as you look so different!
try it fora few more days, and if you stil hate it, get it cut a touch shorter :) no need to get rid of it all!

i'm at work right now, so i can't at the moment...but i can try to describe what i think the problems are:

1. she didn't use but like 1/2-3/4 of a bundle for my whole head....which appealed to me at first b/c i didn't want this big ol' head of hair...i just wanted my normal hair long....but there's so little hair that it look stringy and thin, when i have thick hair...that's why i thought maybe she could add MORE hair.

2. the hair is bodywave hair and my hair is pin straight, so it looks funny that my hair is now wavy. she suggested the bodywave hair b/c it looks better if you don't want to fix it.

3. i think the hair itself is kind of crappy...it's hisandher regular 16" bodywave hair....i really couldn't afford to buy more expensive hair and she really steered me away from synthetic....i also sprayed some styling gel on it this morning when i was fixing it and i think that didn't help things any with it looking stringy.

it basically looks pretty ratty and my real hair is very smooth and silky and almost 'too' soft....

I think you're just in shock and should give it time. I've had short hair for years now and am about to embark on extensions and the thought has crossed my mind that I don't have a clue how to deal with hair either. It's been so long since I had any. What if I don't like it, what if it looks fake, yada, yada...of course it's going to take time to get use to.

You *feel* like you look silly because it's such a dramatic change and you *know* they aren't your hair. Post pictures. I'd love to see your new hair.

I sure wouldn't take them out that fast. For $300.00 I'd give it a chance at least.

I would recommend cutting it a bit to rid yourself of splits or any rattiness you feel you have, and throw a bunch of layers in.  it'll be easier of a transition

yes, but she already cut off like 5-6 inches and layered it a lot, and it's still ratty and stringy....i'm not trying to downplay your suggestions, but that's already been done. thanks though :/

Maybe if you loosely pulled it up and let down a few tendrils?  Straighten it to better blend with your own hair?  Kalikas suggestion, trim it up.  Sorry your first experience wasn't great...mine wasn't either, but don't let it discourage you.

In  that case  i understand what you mean 1/2 to 3/4 for a full head when your hair is thick is nowhere near enough :( Is there any space she can add more hair?

That's what it sounds like: not enough total hair. And that WILL look stringy and make you very unhappy! If she only used 3/4 of a bag of hair from H&H, that's not even 4 oz. I bet more hair will make it look a lot better, and like everyone said, you may get used to it after a couple of days. But definitely get more hair in there.

I'm so sorry about your first experience with PB, I feel for you as does everyone else. In addition to the suggestions already posted, how about putting it up in a ponytail until you see your hairdresser? I really like the HisandHer hair and haven't had any issues with it. I hope everything works out for you.

oh my. i hope you get more hair in, it does sound like you don't have nearly enough hair. i def need more than 4 oz for a full head.  i do better with wavy. thats def a prob with stringy hair.
