My clients fall between 22 to 16 depends on there hight too. For myself I keep geting this long hair and allways end up cuting it to the same spot just above my breast other wise I look like one of those shut in's who haven't left the house in years! I just can't carry off the really long look : (

For my older clients, they usually like the 12"-16" length. The younger clients prefer the 18-22" length. I personally wear 24" extensions and I do lot of face framing layers.
I think it depends on how tall the girl is and what her face shape is. I think top of the breast, or bra-strap length looks great on everyone. The dream is a tall girl with a strong jaw to take the hair all the way down to the small of her back. That's just so fly. Big attitude helps!!!
Falling into the "tall and older" catagory, I have to layer my hair in the front to soften my face, wear bangs, and in the back, I go with 18 inches layered.

I layer around my face and the back starts out about bra-strap length. I have a scissor compulsion so when it's time for removal it end up about shoulder length. My daughter brought home some magazine...glamour, cosmo, I can't remember. Anyway, it said the new look for hair is long and flowing. There was a little stint in there about extensions. They mainly extolled the virtues of clip-ins due to the expense of fusion. One "hair dresser to the stars" in his infinite wisdom stated hair should frame your face and not your ass. To each their own.

Finished length for me is 20" - meaning from the crown of my head to the end of the hair. Using the "don't cut the natural ends" technique (WHICH I TOTALLY DIG), that means that I need some 14", 16", 18", and 20" hair. (Assuming I do about 4 rows). I absolutely *hate* having to cut extension hair - it's such a waste!! But I think the "ideal" hair package would include varying lengths not for a layered look, but for a complete, finished look that required very little cutting. Also it would be so much more economical!
I agree with you Fina. I am usually using about 16-18 right now.. When I have done longer, some clients have felt like it was too long, and we've had to cut it. yeah, such a waste!
Thanks for the responses. I've been opting for the shorter look
myself these days. 20-22" seems to be doing it for me. It's bouncier
and easier to maintain than my last monster install.

amm, are you going to sell hair?
In a word? I think so. But only stick hair. I just want to stay with
everything that's geared toward shrinkies. It's what I use and I only
want to pass along stuff I would wear myself. I would rather not tip
hair either, yanno?
Problem is, most of what I'm finding has some problem or another.
Either it sheds or it's too thin or the colors are a little off or it's too
costly to be a bargain. Yet, I bet the things I find problems in,
someone would find just fine.
The tough part is finding hair of even medium quality that doesn't
cost an arm and a leg to get to the U.S. With shipping and wire
charges (some companies charge on both ends which is ludicrous)
and then a minimum purchase, it can take several thousand dollars
to get it here.
But still ... what is here is WAY overpriced. Glamour Hair is selling
18" hair 100 pieces/100 grams for $189. That is hairway robbery.
I'll be getting some hair here in the next week or so. It'll all be 22"
100 pieces/ 100 grams in colors 2,4,6,10,22,613 (if memory serves.)
The quality will remain to be seen.
