Hey everyone!
Whew! I FINALLY finished reading every post on this forum!!! It took me
about two days (and yes, I have no life hehe) but was worth it!
Anyway I just wanted to say that I've found some great information and
lots of gorgeous advice. I am waiting to hear if I got a job I want,
and if I got it then I am getting extensions done at the end of the
month. Otherwise I will have to save up, but will still get them before
the end of the year(fingers crossed:) )
I went to a place that is supposed to be the leading hair extensions
place in the region. The guy I met with was very friendly and answered
all of my questions and everything. He even took the time to show me
and explain the different kinds of hair they stocked and the methods
they used (including prices). He said that for the curlier hair it
would be up to 1800dhs ($494) depending on how many rows he had to put
in. But the price included attaching the hair and cutting and styling
it for me. We decided on a few sewn on rows of hair. He said that all
their hair was Human; either European or Arabic. It was the first time
I had heard of Arabic hair, but they have a factory in Lebanon and my
mom and I guessed that was where they got the hair from. Either that or
it is Indian hair.
I just cut off about 1.5-2 inches of dead, over processed ends and now
my hair is quite layered. The shortest layer hits below my cheek and
the longest just touches my back. I have let my natural hair grow since
may, so I have about 2.5-3 inches of virgin regrowth. I wanted as much
virgin hair as possible so that atleast my roots would be strong enough
to support the extensions. I have also started hot oil treatments for
my hair twice a week so that it's in tip top condition at the end of
the month!
I just have a few questions that I knew someone on the forum would be able to answer for me!
I have problems with a dry scalp. I also have broken out in seborrheic dermatitis
on my face and I think that may also be what affects my scalp. My scalp
hasn't broken out in a couple months and the dermatitis is usually
linked to my stress levels. My mom has exzema and was told to avoid
wheat and starchy foods. I've just recently cut those out of my diet as
well to see if that makes a difference in my scalp. But it is still dry
and if I don't wash it every two days it tends to flake. I was reading
that most scalp treatments can do their stuff within two weeks. I was
wondering if any of you ladies had any particular products you use to
keep flakes at bay. Or if you think its Ok to wash your hair more than
twice a week (which is what the man suggested)
I have weird hair. Heheh. So I am just afraid that we won't be able to
find an exact match for my hair. I had my hair blowdried straight the
day I went to the shop, so he couldn't see how curly it was. I am also
afraid that because my hair has been overprocessed that it won't be as
shiny as the extensions and will look fake. Any suggestions?
Also does anyone here have curly hair and extensions? How do you take
care of it? If I tie my hair back or in a braid the curls relax, any
suggestions on reviving curls? Usually I just re-wet and style them
again, but I'm guessing doing that with the extensions will take a long
time. And what about putting your hair up? Some people were talking
about the braids showing when its windy. Do the tracks show alot in an
updo? I have medium textured hair, but loads of it. So I'm also not too
worried about the bulk.
Sorry this is such a long post. I just want to get as much information
as possible so that I am prepared and know what to expect. And I was
looking at the pictures everyone's posted and thought 'wow, but
their hair is so nice to begin with and matches the extension
perfectly'. I know you match the extensions to your hair, but I am just
afraid that matching curly hair might be harder.
Anyway sorry again that this is along post, I just thought I'd add
everything in at once so I don't take up all of you guys' time! :)
Thanks, Aseya xoxo

Hey I have weird hair too lol, my hair is pretty much fried now after trying to get out black hair dye and also straightening it everyday! Like you, I have naturally curly hair and am also looking for a good extension match to give my hair a rest from the heat!
I'm also finding it hard to match, i'll let you know if i find any decent human hair that actually keeps its curl! x
