This question is specifically directed towards Amanda and Amm but if anyone else has input, great!
How would you compare the two when it comes to detecting bonds in the hair? Are the "micro-shrinks" really as invisible as the EM? Do you use the regular heat wand for the "micro-shrinks"? Are they just cut in half or something or are they different altogether?
I have clients who are very pleased with my micro extensions using the EM but it is VERY time-consuming to pretip to make smaller strands ( about 1/3 of the normal size or smaller even...) Do you also pre-tip smaller strands for the "micro-shrinks"?
I'm sure Amanda will have much more to offer on this topic than myself as she's the only one I know of who has used both (and quite well, I may add).
Micro-shrinks are the same diameter as the premium shinkies so any stick hair will work. The micros are approx half to a little less than half the length of the premium.
My last install was on the 21st and I have about 20 in with the Pro-Tac strips. I really like them. They're super tiny. Half the install I did with two of them on the same strand, I separated them about a half inch apart and they haven't budged.
I used the micro-shrinks in my thinning client's hair as when we did a test patch with the extend magic, they all fell out, I don't think the extendmagic is suitable unless a sufficient amount of glue is used. It doesn't work for say attaching 15 strands of hair to 2 of the client's strands that's why I came up with the micro-shrink idea for him. The hair I used was still pre-tipped yes x
Amanda - can you really use the micro-links on that little of hair ( 2 strands?) Was the pre-tipped hair your used normal size of did you make smaller pretips from a weft or something?
Yes, I took between 2 and 4 of his hair and we put around 15 pre-bonded together strands of extension hair. If the pre-tipped hair would have been normal size he would have looked ridiculous, we just used 15 strands bonded together shrinkied to 2-4 of his x
