NEED help with my lush hair that seems to tangle and knott no matter what I do. My hair is already dry and course so I usally condition very well..... but is extemely dry and tangled when I get out of the shower. I brush before I wash my hair.... and I've tried everything known to man to try and get a soft silky finish to my hair and the lush hair. I put leave in serums on and spray with detangler. PS... am I doing something wrong with this hair...please help me....and I am in the process of letting a CHI straightner grow out that has absolutely killed my hair..... so any help with my hair and my lush hair would be greatly appreciated.

Also I am about a month away from taking these out and trying a different hair.... I use to have the great lengths in but can't afford that anymore so I am still looking for a hair that has a curl to it and can be straightened also. I am letting my natural curly hair grow back but that will be a long time coming before I can get all that permenant straightner out..... so if anyone has any suggetions on a hair that is somewhat course but not frizzy or nappy let me know.

Thanks for any advice.
JeepGirl

Thanks,
JeepGirl

Maybe your own hair cuticles are very damaged and they are causing friction against the lush if you know what I mean x

Or it may be how you are washing it. I know with mind I have to be really
gentle, i just pat some shampoo in the hair, and kinda just let the
shampoo run down the length of the extensions, I only really rub right up
at the top of my hair where the hair is short and I don't have any
extensions.

Also, what I think helps, is putting some conditioner in at night, then
combing through the hair really good, braiding it, and just washing the
next morning. I've been using herbal essence citrus lift tip conditioner.
Just take a few pumps, put it on from the middle of the ext downward, it
really seems to help me.

I've never tried before, but maybe even try the lush*milk

I am very careful when washing as  not to loosen any or tangle them....I just put the product on top and kinda work it in.... I don't rub the ends together or anything like that. Even when I get the hair dry it tangles.... but I think I am going to try putting the condtioner in the ends and combing and braiding it.... I've just been putting it in a pony tail or bun.... braiding does do much better...I did that last night.

What is the lush milk suppose to do and might there be something at Sallys that would do the trick?

Also... suggetions on what I can use on "my" hair to tame my frizzy "chi"..straightner ...maybe more like a chia -pet that is growing out of my head. Maybe I'll look at their site on growing and nurtering my chia pet head!! LOL

Thanks Amanda & Naked

Thanks,

If the ends have totally gone south on you, try giving it a trim and start a new care program. Tangles had some great advice earlier on caring for extension hair...

ok- Nioxin is terrible for extensions, i have actually sent clients home with it for their way thinning hair and their hair tangled, and it wasnt lush

matrix amplify- that blows the cutilce out way to much, even without extensions its way harsh on the hair

redken anti snap has alot of protien and should only be used once a week at the MOST-

k pak- that has alot of protien too. Protien rich shampoo and conditioners should not be used daily. On anyone!

see, the reason i asked the questions and thank you all for replying- is i knew the product you were using Could have a negative reaction to your extensions.

i have been doing extensions for quite some time now and my trial and error brings me to my statements. i am not just pulling this out of my head for no reason.

Washing hair everyday is a no no for anyone with extensions. Typicially i reccommend washing every other day and every three days. if you need to get the oil out, there are other ways to wash without washing all your hair- wash only the top of your own hair while your extension hair is tied back, or use baby powder on the roots while it is dry and brush it out.

this is the shampoos i send home with my clients and higly reccommend.-

Biolage- bodifying line- for voulme without high plump to blow out cuticle

Biolage- fortifying line- for strengthing weak hair- without a lot of protien

Pureology- Straight line

Pureology- hydrating line

stay away from:

sebastian line

Paul Mitchell line

Nioxin line

there are other lines out there that might be good, however, these are all my experience with each line, i have worn extensions for over three years.

good luck. Remember- what ever conditioner u you, put it on, and RINSE it off immediatley on the root area, you can leave some on the ends for a bit.

when u get out of the shower- its important that u use a wide tooth comb or pick to get all hair smooth- i do this soon as i towel off and get out of shower, do not let hair dry before u pick. do not use a brush on wet hair.

another thing that i have notived that can have an effect on hair extensions is the weather. i live in so cal and its very dry here, latley i have noticed my hair has been very staticky and dry. i used a good conditioner on the ends and mid shaft- pureology deep cond. and it has restored my dry ends and cut out the static. Even my clients w/o extensions have been complaining about dryness.

try the things Amm posted that i had suggusted to someone else. and i also beleive that your own hair that has been damaged due to straighter, could also have an effect on the tangling. Dont get frustrated, there is always a solution with extensions.

I have always washed my hair every day with no problems to the extension hair.  Several of my clients also wash their hair every day too without a problem.  I mostly  use on myself and my clients Bohyme or Extensions Plus Indian or European hair.  Very seldom is tangling a problem.

I've been using Bohyme mostly and it never tangles or has had dried out ends. The RK got real frizzy at the ends and no matter what I did to it, even cutting it, never helped. Even a batch of Great Lengths hair did that one time. I had two colors installed and only one color of the Great Lengths dried out at the ends. All batches are not created equal, nobody is to fault.

Thx gals....I'll will try trimming the ends and putting the conditioner and brading at night.... and I will for sure try the different shamoo and conditioners. I really want to get this under control because I really want to keep ordering the lush hair.  Lesson learned on permanent straightners on MY hair.... it seems to be terrific for other people but not for me.... guess adding the blonde to it just sent it right over the edge.... but the girl that did my great lenghts added it and I love it but the problem started when the first straightner was deleted and they could get it.... that's when she switched to the chi.... which I'm sure is a great straightner but just not in conjuntion with the old one that they had been putting on my hair.

Amm, do you think you might get the lush in a curly or french refined?

Thx everyone... you ladies are so helpful!

Thanks,
JeepGirl

Jeepgirl,

It's probably because your sleeping with wet hair.  Try combing it out and puting it in a briad or bun before bed.  That always works for me.

I have not had any trouble with dryness my 2nd Lush Hair install since I switched to Purology at Tangles suggestion (I dried out my first install with the wrong products).  I also make sure that I do a deep condition on the ends once a week.  I have gotten a few tangles but I think that it is just normal long hair tangling. I am not used to that since I normally wear my hair fairly short when the extensions are out.  I probably have more than usual shed hairs wreaking (sp?) havoc since I am not very good at installing shrinkies yet and had many travelling hairs.

I have also recently bought a filter for my shower head hoping that will help with extra winter dryness of my hair and skin.
