QuoteReplyTopic: Went with glue ONE LAST time B4 Shrinkie! Posted: January 08 2006 at 1:53pm
Okay so last I was here I was complaining about the cheap hair install I received and how coarse my hair was (Yaki) after only a few days. I talked to my hair dresser and she told me she was thinking about doing infusion. She has never done them as we live in a VERY small town and I think Im about the only white girl here that gets extensions. 99.9% of her clients are black and use the weave sewn in method, the glue etc and wouldnt be too thrilled about paying the $600.00 price tag on infusion method.
Im waiting to get my income tax money back in a couple weeks and I am thinking of driving (Probably to Atlanta) to get shrinkies done. I have a few questions before I decide for sure.
My hair is about 4-5 inches long on top and 6 inches in front around my face. My hair at the nape of my neck in the back is about 2 inches maybe alittle less around the edges as it was shaved short last month or so. Would shrinkies look right on such short hair? How much does it normally cost to get shrinkies? Do you buy your own hair first or does it come with the install price? I have babyfine black hair that is super thin. What would be my best option on hair brand etc? I want something silky, shiny and straight.
Also until I get my money to do the shrinkie install I had her glue in my extensions ONE LAST TIME so I have hair until then. This time it turned out pretty good, cant see the wefts etc but I think its because I went with the 1black instead of the 1b/27 which showed up quite a bit on my scalp. Also this hair is a silky straight texture and is VERY fine and limp like my own hair.
Also another q about Shrinkies?? Can you wear your hair up, etc with them and they not show? Only thing I hate about the glued in wefts is I cant put my hair in a pony tail or other styles.
How long will shrinkies last before needing them redone? Are they very safe on hair? Is Shrinkies the same as infusion? Can you buy the starter kit to try out at home yourself to give me an idea of what they will look like and all? Im sure if I go to Atlanta it will cost me more than the $600.00 my stylist quotes me for. Should I even let her do my hair since she has NO experience in the Shrinkie method? Im full of questions and I know if anyone can give me honest answers you gals can!
Also with the Shrinkies I have heard you can treat them like your normal hair, wash, style, etc everything normally. Is that true?
Here is pics of this last glue in weft install. As you can see you cant make out the wefts this time at all. Im happy with that but my hair is so thin and limp. Much like MY hair but I want thick, lucious hair!!
The first pics are of me today and yesterday one week after my install. The last subalbum is last time, my FIRST extension install.
Wow Babygurl i love you with that dark hair<3 nice ^^ Well shrinkies in my hair(i only did a few black lowligths) where real nice, they did not show up much and my hair is weeeary fine.
The shrinkies last about a month or two^^ some push the bonds to 11 weeks but it`s not good for you natural hair. The Shrinkie , shrinks down to the size off the pretip and seals it. Removal is a breaze<3
Ive tryed normal fusion(greath lengts) and the removal proccess hurt my hair sooo much ( had to cut it short again)..... so stick with shrinkies<3
You seem to have enough natural hair to cover the shrinkies real well so i think it would be nice:) Wefts do give you a limited styling ability, but shrinkies would deff be more possibilities:D
12 Inch Wawa, Installed with Protac, i love hair extensions<3
Hi Babygurl, ok no you shouldn't see them and can wear your hair up as normal but that depends on how good your extensionist's experience is. A good extensionist would always know where to and not to put extensions so they are not seen. You say your hair is 2" in some areas? check out this link and scroll down the page alitlle until you get to back shots of a mans head. This was done by Amanda a member here using shrinkies so it can be done on short hair. http://www.shrinkies.net/
They last around 2-3 months but may need maintenance before then. I guess this depends on a number of diff factors.
You can treat your hair as normal but will have to follow an aftrecare programe and spend time on looking after the hair. As for shrinkies, i wouldn't put any conditioners, oils, serums directly on them.
Yes they are safe. No i wouldn't go with someone who has no experience. No their not the same as fusion and are said to be gentler on hair.
Yeah you could buy a diy kit and do them yourself but it takes a bit of practise to get it right so i would suggest you buy a practise manequin to practise on first. Here's a tutorial...
THANKS and THANKS. What is the longest lasting method of extensions? Is there any extensions that last several months?? If Im going to pay alot of money I want to be able to wear them for several months lolol this is a SMALL town and my family already thinks I am crazy for wanting to pay 600 for extensions that will last 6 weeks lolol
Thanks MOFFPOOF! I feel like the wefts do not show at all with the black extensions. I have been around family this week that hasnt seen me in months who are saying "Wow Kim you hair really looks awesome. Your hair grows so quickly" lolol only problem is when I tell people that they are extensions they want to see my roots because they are curious and facinated and with the wefts once you go moving my hair around LOOKING for them you can obviously see them. I want something that gives me the versatility to wear updo's, pony tails, down, all sorts of ways without seeing the wefts etc.
Anyone ever hear of this method? I found this online today and it seems VERY safe and undetectable.
