Hello everyone.

I hope you can help me with some really good ideas on how to get my hair to grow quicker...

I cut my hair off when I was a teenager and it was down to my hips.

I regretted it the day I got it cut and since then I try and let it grow.

But it seems to be really slow...

It is just over my shoulders now. I got it cut maybe 1 a year and only for the dead ends.

Does anybody know what I can do to make my hair grow long quick again?

My indian friend gave me an oily lotion that she says I have to put onto my scalp and while I massage it into my head I shall pull my hair a bit. I used it 3 times now and my hair certainly feels healthier and thicker but I wonder if it will grow.

Have you got any other ideas on what to do?

I have seen your photos of yourselves and I feel even worse now because I should have never chopped it off.

Thanks x

I know it's hard waiting for your hair to grow but the only thing you can do is look after it and not cut it too often. Some people on this site advocate taking vitiamins to speed up hair growth but I think they are unnescessary if you are eating a balanced diet.

Good luck

Usually ones hair growth is about the genes. Ofcourse you can do regular exercises , eat properly  so that you could be healthy and your hair could be healthy but I think the main thing is to be just patient. Think of how many years it would take you to grow your hair back. 2-3 years is such a little time when you consider your entire life. You'll be there in notime just be devoted and don't cut it again. Taking good care of your hair will just make it break or split less I don't think it would faster any growth...

Hi there Hannah - welcome to the Board! If you read back on some of the old posts you will find a wealth of great advice and information. Patience is the key to growing my hair I'm finding. My hair is about the same length as yours, maybe a bit shorter. I am focusing on really pampering my hair. Updos are good for protecting it. Not getting it cut. Etc. Your hair WILL grow! Oh, also that lotion from your friend sounds like a great find. What is it called?

Hi LadyFrog, Sorun and SpecialKitty

Many thanks for your replies. I know it is mostly about patience and care to get my hair grow again. But I don't think I have no patience anymore  ... it takes sooooOOOoooooOOOOooo long.

I changed recently from hairbands to a big hairclip, maybe that will help so the hair does not break off because I think that is my main problem...

SpecialKitty I haven't got the slightest clue what it is called unfortunately. I will ask her though next time I see her and let you know. She said it is something Indian women use to make their hair grow and thicker, especially when they are going to be married. It is an oily bright green liquid.

LadyFrog I think I might take some vitamins though if that helps.

Since I moved to England my diet is very unhealthy to be honest. It is a lot of fast food and fried stuff.

Thanks for your advise everybody and I hope you have a nice day.

Hanna xx

Hanna, just let it grow -- resist any and all temptations to cut it -- and in time it'll be long.  I promise.

I started with a typical short male haircut - and just look at my hair now.

Does the oil have a really strong fragrance to it? If it does it's probably amla oil.
