QuoteReplyTopic: older gal color problems Posted: January 16 2006 at 7:18am
Since I am (ahem) of the older age, I have a new problem that I hope someone can help with. I have been blond (chemically) most of my life, but now I am getting so much gray, the blond looks washed out . I don't know if I should have darker colors woven in, or go for a new red shade. I love shiny hair, but mine just doesn't "catch the light". Any suggestions would be appreciated as right now it is blond on top, gray in the middle, and dark at the neckline.

I don't have an answer to your question, but I have the same problem.
I'm about 25% grey now and my hair can end up looking a little dusty between the highlights and the grey (my natural base is the very lightest shade of brown).
I've tried lowlights but they don't seem to solve the problem.
What I'm thinking of doing is allover color in medium or dark ash blond (my mom was a natural bright red so my hair can look brassy) and then add highlights to that.
But I haven't tried yet so I don't know if it will give me the results I am looking for.

"blond on top, gray in the middle, and dark at the neckline"
Has this been done by yourself or a professional colorist? What do you want to have as your final color? (RED) Do you plan on doing this yourself? How long is your hair? Why is your hair blonde on top--bleaching? Gray in the middle--fadded demi or permanent color? Dark at the neckline? Just virgin hair, or hair previously colored dark?
