current curl shag...advice?

I currently have red tightly curled locks that hang. It's starting to get pretty long/frizzy. I was thinking since I rock the "surfer" look I should cut it to look the part, but could'nt find any pics of this. I will have pics up in a few moments. I think I've put gel in my hair once and had it straightened for fun once. Other than that it is all natural. My normal routine is shampoo and conditioner once every night in the shower. If anyone can suggest a nice "surfer" type of cut I'd appreciate it(something that requires minimal maintenance).

by the way the length when pulled straight infront of face is below bottom lip. and im a guy...
