QuoteReplyTopic: Caring for weft ext. vs. strand ext. Posted: February 03 2006 at 11:38am
I would like to try my next install using a combination of wefts and strands. I have gotten great info from this forum and have a basic understanding of how to put the hair in but other than that, I am totally clueless about wefts and know nothing about them from opening the package to removing the extensions from my head.
Can anyone tell me are there some care instructions specific to weft install (w/Pro Tac) as opposed to strand-by-strand (shrinkies, silicone-lined microring)? Please point me in the right directions concerning small details that will help my installation go more smoothly (suggestions, links).
Thanks!

very similer care, like dont condition your roots, when brushing do it gently from the bottem up, holding as much hair as possible as to not stress the bonds, etc. I alternate between single strand extensions and wefts all the time and the aftercare is pretty much the same, although unlike others I dont wear a high ponytail with the wefts.
i wear both, wefts and individuals, i do not have the wefts intalled with protact though, i have developed my own method of installing wefts for long term. but as Kalika stated, both after care is similar.
i do wear ponytails alot on my days off and every am at the gym, however, they are not too high either. sorta mid pony.

Thanks Kalika and Tangles, once again, something new and I am probably over-thinking things again. Weird thing is though I am more nervous about putting in the wefts than I was the strands, don't know why. I got all worked up about my Lush installs and things went fine and got better with each install. I expect the same will be true with the wefts.
Thanks again.

relax sarytyr...the wefts are a breeze to install compared to an individual strand method! You will be amazed at how easy & quick the weft/pro-tac install will be!
