Is it? I mean it makes your hair shine...i know some have said it sits on the hair and blocks moisture out when you say sit how long can a rpoduct sit on your hair without dissapating into the air? I mean it cant sit there forever or we could just put moisturizer on our hair once and not have to do it again until you wash it out. any commenmts ?

I think they're bad because they have cones in them which coat the hair shaft and prevent moisture from getting in so in the long run they end up drying out the hair.  I don't know if they can sit there forever but they will sit there for a long time if you don't clarify.

Yes but they are easily washed off as long as it is free of mineral oil and petrolatum.  Moisturizers are moisturizing your hair which is good, cones are just coating your hair giving it shine but doing nothing else good for it.  They prevent moisture from getting in.  Some people use cones with no problem though.  I use them on occasion but I make sure to clarify so they are removed.  Someone else may be able to explain it better than me.

Serum's always weight my hair down. :S It gives a shiny LOOK but really gooey feel. My hair can't really breathe.

Try using an oil sheen of some sort. Its really light and gives you shine. I'll get back to you with the name of the one I used.

It's like plastic, so it can't dissapate. Moisturizers are water-based so they can evaporate and what doesn't evaporate can be washed off easily. Unless it has mineral oil or something like Pokahontas said. I'm pretty sure they can sit on your hair forever unless your hair breaks off from lack of moisture. I'm not totally against using silicones. I still use them. I just make sure to clarify my hair regularly to get rid of them.
