just follow the way the grain of you hair is going....if you want to change that then you have to while in the shower take a big tooth comb and omb it the way that you want...then taking an hard brush to follow up....but yeah just find out how the way your hair grows..
waving da crown area is not dat important to me, but if u want to wave dat area then just spend an additional 5-10 mins of focusing on dat area. to me connection is more important because dats what makes ur waves 360.
the wave game is a game of stategies, methods, and experience to become a champion!

i use the 1/8 guard after letting my hair grow for a month..and it allows me to see my waves but it keeps it pretty neat and low and the waves are still there and full blown at that....they even look fresher and more wet....but yeah i comb mine in the shower and it does help..but i usually do it before i wash so that i can use my brush method for washing my hair....but naw fam its good....it picks up the hair that wont wave up and makes it fall in line with the rest of your hair....
