QuoteReplyTopic: time for a wig Posted: April 03 2006 at 11:34am
Move over Beyonce, I think it's time for me to get a wig!
My hair has always sucked, thin and fine. But I think 15 years of wearing extensions has taken a toll on what was already in poor shape to begin with.
I took out my pro-tacs last night, and it was pretty easy to get them out, by the way. Overall I loved that method, but my hair is just too weak to support it. It's probably too weak to support any type of extensions.
So...wig time!
I measured my head and I am going to have Onrite custom make me some wigs. I'm going to have them make me a lace front, and also I'd like a 'combo' unit- lace in the front and integration in the back. It will take them about 10 weeks to make a custom, so in the mean time, I'm going to try one of those 'Newhair' wigs.
I ordered this wig, and it's definitely not long enought for me, but when I get it, I'm going to do extensions on it! (yes you can do extensions on a wig!)
If I like it enough, then I'll have Onrite custom make me one just like it, but to my specs, of course.
Hi Metalgirl, I was looking at your website. It doesn't look like you
have thinning hair on the top. Is that still true? Have you thought
about a top peice? Those are a lot lighter so you can switch between
that and a wig.

This product looks interesting. The only limitation I see is that the colors
available are mostly restricted to black and very dark hair. In May they're
offering a few lighter colors, but not with much choice. I don't see any
reds or auburns whatsoever. Their FAQs state that you can't color their
hair, whether it is synthetic or human. Maybe they'll offer more as the
product becomes more popular.
Go for it girl.. I have always LOVED wigs, hair pieces, weaves, braids etc.. Because at heart, I'm LAZY AS HELL, and I am not very creative or skilled when it comes to hair styles!!! My natural hair is long and thick.. (Some say it's a blessing, but they don't have to comb it EVERYDAY..) Although, I was more partial to hairpieces than wigs, I'm considering giving wigs a second look.. Why?? one word Lacefront!
I wanted to share that if you are looking at wigs, the ladies on the BHF are the QUEENS of lacefront wigs.. The new update to the forum netted a new thread dedicated to lacefront wigs (the topic had TAKEN OVER the weaves and extensions topic ) Anyway, all you want to know about wigs (including recommendations for good vendors) is all there.. http://forum.blackhairmedia.com/forum_topics.asp?FID=79
Lacefront wigs are AMAZING.. Some of the ladies have pics posted, and I SWEAR you would NEVER know that they are wearing wigs.. Realistic hairlines, styling freedom, etc.. You can style these wigs anyway you want including UP DOs!!!!
Girl post pics when you get yours..

I've gotten into wigs recently. (I don't want to cut my hair.) They've got some good looking ones on New hair. I'm getting interested. I gonna see if they have any that I wanna get.

Although it says not to color the Newhair wig, I'm going to highlight it with my favorite L'Oreal burgandy highlights.
My hair is thin all over, but not see through on top. It's the underneath, from years of extensions that is very, very thin now.
I think they will be bringing out more of the lighter colors for this wig soon. Fortunately my hair is dark, so it works for me!
If I like this wig, I'm going to have Onrite customize one for me, length, color, etc. That's the nice thing about being in the hair replacement business, I have access to having custom wigs made fairly inexpensively.
I'm actually saving up for a lacefront myself. After seeing all the great pics on the BHM for months now,I'm completely sold.I think I'm going to get mine from Isaac at cyberparlor. His wigs are a little more expensive than the vendors that I've seen. But I'd rather pay a little more for some peace of mind.I saw on the site a wig exactly how I wanted and it was $500.But it was a stock wig.

Paula Jayne-if you meant the cyberparlor lacefronts here's a link. They are really nice looking.Plus they only use their own pics.It gets so annoying to see stolen fotki pics and celebs.
