Hello once again everyone. OK, I have only been on this forum for a short time  (luv it! luv it! luv it) and I was hoping for some tips on coloring my hair. I have been following much of your wonderful advice on a good hair regimen and now I am about to colour my hair  to hide those nasty greys. I will be using Bigen Permanent Powder Hair Color and I am using the black brown. It basically acts as a semi-color because it contains no Ammonia or Hydrogen Peroxide...I have medium shoulder length black hair (fine when relaxed)  but not quite sure of my hair type tho. Anyways, lately I have been doing co-washes, occasionally clarifying (ACV) rinses, castrol oil, jojoba oil, EVOO etc and I now want to put a color in. So before I start I would like some advice on the best way I should approach this.

The last time I clarified my hair was about a week ago, since this time I have been using my moisturizers (Dove Leave-In Replenishing Mist luv it! and oils twice daily - EVOO or Castol Oil, etc on the ends. and I was wondering should I clarify again before I put the color in?

Should I condition after I put the color in?  If so, deep condition?, leave in conditioner ??? I'm not quite sure.

Although I wrap my hair every night I was also wondering what regiment I should do on the first night after coloring my hair?

Are there any products especially homemade ones I could use that would enhance my color?

Are there any products (especially homemade ones)  that I should be cautious of using ?

Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks

To all my international sistas, thanks I appreciate your help.

IMO I don't think you need to clarify again since you recently done so unless you feel that you have a lot of product buildup. Now with any chemical process (coloring, relaxing, etc) always deep condition afterwards and using a leave-in as well does not hurt because chemicals tend to leave the hair dry. So therefore continue your daily routine of moisturizing after coloring. There's nothing really special that I can tell you to do the first night after coloring. I mean you can wrap your hair and it should be fine. Also natural oils or products that contains natural ingrediants are wonderful for color treated hair as well as products for color treated hair. Huhmmm thats all I can think of at this moment. HTH

Some people use coffee to enhance their color (dark colors), but I'm not sure how it's done.  Maybe one of the other ladies knows exactly how it's done.

I think you should clarify before you do the color becasue it might help it take better.  I wouldn't do it afterwards though because it will probably take some of it out.

I'm all late coming in here.....you probably already colered it already.
