I am thinking about going to a Dominican Hair Salon to get my hair washed, deep conditioned, trimmed and blow dried once a month because it's only 20 dollars and I really want to see if this will help my hair become healthy in anyway...
I have natural hair and I have a couple of questions because I haven't excatly gotten my hair rollersetted straight and blown out ever...My question is:What can I do to insure that my hair stays straight after I get it done (only for a week or so)...I know aqua based products will make my hair revert which I'm trying to avoid (to hold the style.)
Also, has anyone every had good results when they visit "Healthy Hair Salons"

Wrap your hair, that's how I keep it straight after a a blowout. And stay way from water based products like you said, use light oils for the most part, but nothing heavy enough to weigh it down.
Natural since March 2006
No "heat" challenge for Winter 08-09

I've never had my hair permed (well...the relaxer didn't take in my coarse curls...just 4 me sucks!) so I have no experience in wrapping hair...but i'll ask the lady at the salon to teach me or I'll find a tutorial or something.
I was thinking about using coconut oil because it's pretty light and smells good, but i'm still not sure....which oil is better: Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil or Coconut?

Humm, I've only used coconut out of the ones you've suggested, and that's cool. Just go with the lightest of the 3.
As far as wrapping, I got these instructions from the Motions (R) website;
Assemble the following tools:
1.
Large and Small toothed combs.
2.
Wrap strip, neck strip or satin scarf.
C.
"Wrap" Steps:
1.
Direct the hair around in a clockwise fashion (or counter clockwise depending on preference), keeping the hair smooth and close to the head (almost as if the head were A giant hair roller).
2.
Use the small toothed comb (or brush to smooth all loose ends into the wrap.
3.
Secure the hair with a wrap or neck strip or secure with satin scarf.
5.
After awakening, if you prefer, spray salon sheen (or Oil sheen) onto hair and style!
