QuoteReplyTopic: Asked for refund :( Posted: April 25 2006 at 10:22pm
Well I know I posted that it looked great after being styled yesterday, and yes it looks good curly but that taked over an hour to do. I styled it today and the ends are sticking out (my own hair) some are literally sticking straight out the back of my head. the colours don't match and it looks like I have bald spots. I talked to another extensionist and they were shocked at how much it cost, how long it took and how it was done. He said that my hair is thick and she didn't put enough hair on each section to hold my hair down so it sticks out, he also said that for every section she did, that she should have taken 3. However she seemed to think that the bonds were extrodinarily small, so I dunno. Anyways I emailed and asked for a refund. I feel so stupid, this cost alotta money and I don't get paid alot so I am really out here. I was going to go get it dyed tomorrow to match the colours but I am going to ask them if they can fix this for the amount it would cost to colour it all and if they can't I guess I will have to take it out. I am going to cry.

Wow- take a deep breath and have a glass of wine......
I have been there before. I highly doubt anyoe will give you a fulll refund. But maybe your stylist can fix it for you. Is it fusion or links? How much hair do you have in now? And how much for extra hair.Sorry for all the questions but I know how you feel.
Current install: 18" Bohyme 18/22 mixed with 613 -200 microlinks.....pre tipped by me!!! (never again!)
I won't go back to her. She messed up big time. lol. I told her that I understand that she still has to pay for the hair because she ordered it and used it but I asked for the rest of my money back.

I am so sorry that you have to go thru this. Take a deep breath, and either demand a refund or demand that she adds more hair. I know that you don't want to go back to her, but that may be the only way to get a good result with what you have right now with out having to take them out. Also consider filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau if she does not respond to you in a postive way. Also, did you pay with credit card? You may have some recourse if you did.
When it is all said and done, consider next time doing it yourself. I know that sounds scary, but there are some really easy methods that you or a friend can do. I highly suggest the Pro-tac method, it would probably run you about 200-300 the first time, depending on where you get your hair, but re-installs are basically pennies on the dollar, especially if you get good quality hair.
One thing that might help you with your extensionist is if you bring some before and after pics with you when you go to talk to her about the crappy job she did. There are so many pics on this site and on other extensionist sites, just find one that matches your pre-extension hair length and then make some copies. If you do a search, you will even find that women with pixie cuts can have beautifull long full flowing hair. It is acheivable!!!
Go to her armed and ready, for the price(which it sounds like you paid big$$$) you should have so much hair that your head feels heavy when it is wet!!!
We are backing you!!!

Gsmile is right. You should ask for her to add more. If you color it,
have her do it because if you go to someone else she doesn't have to
take responsibility if the hair gets damaged. A lot times when
you color the extension hair you can ruin it so have her do it!!
Take loads of pictures. If you have to sue her you will have the
pictures plus the word of another professional to say it wasn't done
right. Give the "stylist" a chance to fix it, otherwise you have no
case.
And, if she doesn't fix it, report her to the Better Business Bureau by
phone. When you do it throught the internet you don't get
anywhere.
Please let us know what happens.

aww bless poor you i feel so very sorry for you as its such a big thing and so very expensive that when it doesnt turn out as its supposed to do it can be really gutting!! hope you get a satisfactory result with this!! if you dont let me know and ill send the boys round LOL!!
I went to another salon to see what they think and as soon as I took my hat off they gasped and asked who the heck did this to my poor head. The girl who did this didn't leave any spaces, she did all of my hair which means that there is none of my hair to cover the bonds. I e-mailed this girls sister/boss and she was quite rude about it all, saying that I need to wait a week because the bonds will lay flat after a week (that clearly doesnt matter since you can still see all of them) and that in the pictures I sent her it wasn't styled (yes it was it was blow dryed and flatironed!) and I told her I tlaked to someone who does great lengths and they said it was done wrong and she said "As for Great lengths , I am great lengths I have been doing great lengths even before they branched out into Canada I've been doing them in the states for 10 years now. Great lengths just came to Canada 3 years ago, & now salons in this area are taking the course here. But I have reached out even further then great lengths I use better qaulity hair, & all of my clients notice that" so apperently she thinks she is the god of great lengths or something to which the stylists I talked to laughed histericly. But whatever. Then she tells me that I have thin hair and she couldn't add more hair then that. Then goes back and contradicts herself and says she might be able to add more hair, but only a little bit. Yet when her sister was doing the extensions she kept telling me how much hair I have and how it is so thick. So basiclly in the email the boss of the company says that nothing can be done and I am to blame.
I hate it when people say it's not their fault. Whatever happened to 'the customer is always right'? Sometimes it is a clients fault and sometimes it's the extensionists fault. Whoever is to blame needs to hold their hands up and correct what they've done wrong. n your case it's CLEARLY not you!
It's one thing to place the bonds incorrectly. It's another to do a botch job with the colour. But the corker for me is 'leave it for a week and the bonds will lay flat'? Excuse ME? You shouldn't have to wait a week for your hair to look right. That is ridiculous.
And judging by her email to you she's extremely pompous (the sister or whoever). To do a bad job then lapse into self-worship!
I agree with malibu. Report her as she doesn't know what she's doing. For a small amount, ok, drop it and learn a lesson but when you're dealing with that much money you can't let it go.
I really feel for you and hope she gets what's coming to her.
Thank you Sammy. I agree. My mother is going to try emailing her as she is very good with her words and making people understand, much better then I am. So we are going to see if anything comes of that and if not I will be making some phone calls thats for sure.
I hate to hear stories like this. Why can't people just say "OK, I screwed up" and take responsibility for their actions. As far as I'm concerned, you should be reimbursed for at least the installation of the hair. If a client of mine was that unhappy, I wouldn't resitate to reimburse them their money. Some people just don't get it! I have been in your position and I really hope that this get's resolved whether it's fixing your hair or getting your money back. Best of luck to you!
Honestly, I don't think it (hair) get's any better than Great Length's. What was her quote?!? "I have reached out further than Great Length's". So she did you some big favor?!?! Ok so the hair is really good quality, but what about the installation??? That plays a very big..................... No........... HUGE part of how your extensions look.
I feel for you all! I went for a consultation many many years ago and she just happened to have my color on hand so of course in all my excitement I went for it. Well they used some sort of fishing plastic string and used it to tie the extensions to my own hair? They left me sitting there in between other customers. I was there from about 10am to 7pm just mostly waiting for them to come back! They also snapped my picture without approval. I cried so much and yelled at them when they were done and found out I was not the only unhappy customer. I called the BBB and complained.
It left bald spots and looked hideous, cost a couple grand, I cried so much I felt so humiliated. That's just one story!
I'm so sorry you had that experience, mabey you can find a friend to help you or someone close by from the hair board? I'm hoping all works out well for you!
Well you know customer service is the one key thing I keep in mind. If your hair was to thin or to thick she should have discovered that prior to applying the extensions. She probably didn't order enough hair. That hair is really expensive.
Good news girls, she has agreed to refund me my money IF I go to her to get them taken out. I figure that a couple hours of uncomfy silence (lol) to get them taken out is worth it to get my money back.
Yeah, she isn't licenced under great lengths, she has her own company, thats why she claims she does better then them. lol. Clearly not. I had it all cut into a bob until I can get them taken out and it looks better now, so I don't have to wear a hat now lol. But the girl who cut my hair has been cutting extensions for years and she was so MAD. lol. She was like "I am so ANGRY at what this girl as done to you!!" She said the bonds wern't put in right, she used too much glue, didn't used enough hair and also didn't leave any spaces between bonds so there was none of my hair to cover them. Made me feel good to have someone be angry with me.
You guys are awesome too, thank you for letting me vent and sympathising with me.

i was getting more and more pissed off as i read through your whole saga.......i am very glad you are getting your money back, but you keep your eye in the mirror on her (take your own handheld mirror if you have to) while she removes this crap that she put in your hair....if she sucks this bad at putting them in i am really afraid for how she manages to remove them.....if one little piece of your hair is getting ripped off during removal: grab your refund and run back home, get on this forum and let the EXPERTS here tell you how to get it out...........
and then, let the EXPERTS tell you how to affordably put some purty hair back in!!!!
good luck! (and if it were me i would be rude as hell when i leave the place)
Is she charging you to remove the extensions? As harsh as it sounds, she will just use acetone to get them out, and pretty much anybody can do that. I don't know where you live but I would be willing to remove them for you for nothing just because of all the hell you have been through. When I had my GL's removed, she used acetone. I often use that to remove my clients extensions when doing maintenance on their hair. Let me know!
