QuoteReplyTopic: GL Extension questions Posted: May 24 2006 at 8:04am
As you know already I have GL extensions in since January 18th. I know they need to come out. I am getting them out June 6th.
My question is when they are hanging on by a tiny hair and then it comes out, will that be a noticeable amount of hair loss when they are all taken out? If several now have come out on their own or I barely touched them, they were hanging on barely by a couple of hairs they fell out. It has been like two every other day coming out. Will this be a noticeable amount of hair loss when they are taken out? When they did come out it was just a tiny hair on the hair that they were hanging on by.
Please don't yell at me. I know I have had them in for longer than the time frame that everyone suggested

It's time to take them out. When you have an entire extension strand being supported by just one of your own hairs the weight of the extension strand will cause your own hair to come out. It's hard to say if this will cause noticable hair loss...depends how thick your hair was to begin with. If you are considering wearing strand by strand hair extensions on a regular basis, and a bit of this happened every time, it would stand to reason that sooner or later your own hair would start to appear thinner.

don't plan on wearing these again. I am going to let my own hair grow on its own. I love them but I panic too much to have them I guess... Yeah, I have an appt June 6th to take them out. So Hope they all last till then.
My hair was great prior to GL's and I left them in for 5 months. I had hair down to my bra strap and I had just wanted it to be a little longer for my wedding. When I got them removed my hair was shoulder length and I looked horrible, my hair was in awful shape. I had no choice but to get extensions again so I hope your hair fares better than mine. I don't know if your extensionist did this, but mine thinned out my hair and sort of chopped it because she said it would blend better, which I am sure it did but it definitely did not help my original hair out! It has been almost a year and a half later and my hair is still not as good as it was prior to GL. I have recently used shrinkies and protac and have noticed my hair is getting healthier and longer. GOOD LUCK!!!
paula i took mine out when they started coming out like yours. I was losing a couple every other day and quite a few were hanging by a hair or two. I did notice some thinning. Do any of the bonds that have come out have hairs with white root bulbs?
I had the same thing happen to me with the GL, I have thin hair and some places are only about an inch long in those spots, they are still short there, but I have not been without extensions since, after two installs with GL my hair from up top is about as long as my hair in back.
Sad I know... I had my first in 3 months the second about 5....more hair broke off when trying to remove them also....
It is a bad thing...I was told they would help me grow my hair out....well I will leave it at that!

Some did have white bulbs on them, Why? I hope more does not break off when she takes them out. I just talked toher and she said that like 50 of hers cameout over the 5-6 month period. Then she also changed her story and said people take them out between 4-6 months, In the beginning she never mentioned any 4 months. Funny huh? Oh well. I will see when I get them out. The rest are all in with alot of hair still.

Amazing. Just a few weeks ago all was 100% well with your hair. Your story really shows just how quickly extensions can begin to deteriorate once the process of losing your hair starts to accelerate. If it were me, once there was noticeable hair loss I'd get those puppies out of there immediately! But that's just me, someone who has a big horror of permanent bald patches.
Paula the white bulbs happened too with my hair. it means that some of your hair is being pulled out from the root. Thats when you start to have thinning of your own hair.
You have probably had alot of natural hair shedding since you have had them in for a bit and the bonds are now becoming unbalanced and too much weight is being placed on the natural hair because the extension hair sections are thicker than your hair attached to them. This is causing hairs to be pulled out of the root . Some people have shallow hair follicles and once the hair becomes the slightest bit unbalanced the hair will pull out from your scalp. It is probably a good time to take them out now. You will notice when the hair is taken out the ones you take out yourself will also have the white bulbs it is not only the ones hanging by a few hairs. If you are now losing a couple every few days then it means all of them are now probably unbalanced.

Actually, white bulbs are normal. If you don't see a white bulb the
hair was either cut or broken off. From my understaning, if the bulb is
the same color of your hair then it's pulled out.

Laffin, DivaV! I guess we'll have to wait until June 6th to find out the end of this dramatic saga of whether poor Paula Jayne has damage to her own hair or not. If it were me I think I'd just chill out with a roostertail and hope for the best.

hi paula - i'm sorry to hear you're getting stressed, good you are getting them out - you can always call the chick and tell her you want them out now, or else we can tell you here how to take them out yourself...the key to removal is being GENTLE and PATIENT. removal itself can trash your hair if you aren't careful, regardless of how long they've been in.
i'm sorry you felt like we would yell at you - i hope your hair is okay. i've never heard the bulb color indicating anything, so i can't comment on what the hair bulbs mean, i intuitively would think it means that your hair is being pulled out by the root and not shed, but i'm not sure if that is true or not.
