hair coloring crisis!!!!!

HI, I have a major crisis! I went to color my hair cinnamon brown...and I talked to some hair specialist and they said my hair would turn a brown with red highlights. I thought great..just what I want. So I color my hair and it turns BLACK with some red. This is not what Ii wanted. This same thing happened to me last year. I can`t have black hair it is not me. I have gorgious curly hair and now it is ruined!!!!I have tried some different things to get it out and nothing is working. Can you help? I have a christmas party I have been waiting to go to for months and I can`t show up with BLACK hair.Please help me!
