You can't help but look like a dork with a faux hawk. If you're not brave enough to shave one in you shouldn't get a fashionhawk.

personally, i think that faux hawks can look good on certian guys, if they have the right face for it.
if your bro wants to do one, i'd suggest he get his hair cut in a fade style in the back (reallyshort, then fades to short, then longer on top) and use a tacky pomade or spiking glue to style the faux hawk.  Got2be is a good brand for pomades/glues.  my fiancee uses thier spiking glue that comes in a yellow tube and it works awesome for him.
otherwise, if he decides againsht the faux hawk, a similarly cut style, but with chunky spikes would be kind of like it, but not risk being called a poser  LOL:o)

just some chunky spikes would be a mor subtle style and then maybe if he enjoys that he can get the faux hawk, you should make sure you like spikes before doing a faux hawk I also hear its hard to maintain every day trying to style it and keep the spikes up.

use joico ice spiker if you want his fauxhawk to look and feel hard or use a wax(dont know what kind since i use gl for my spiky hair) if you want it to look and feel softer
