How to do wild red & black

 

I am wondering how I would go about doing this style of hair.  My hair is currently dark red(semi permanent SFX Blood Red).  I bleached it and applied the red color.  I'd like to maybe add black.  Will this work?  Or will I have to wait until the hair color is faded, then do the black and bleach and redo the red parts?  Any advice would be appreciated!!!
