QuoteReplyTopic: How do you cut the extensions? Posted: August 14 2006 at 12:15pm
Hey Everyone!
I am going to do my own install in about a week; I know every thing I need to know except on how to cut the hair! . The last time I had hair extensions I installed them and then went to a salon but they just cut it weird. I love long layers, but I know that you can’t cut the extensions the same way you cut your own hair. Can someone PLEASE explain to me how to do it with the razor?

make sure you go to a salon that is experienced in cutting hair extensions. Yes you def. cut hair extensions different than regular hair.
I just do some very basic razoring on my top layers of extensions to make them blend. And around my face. I use a feather razor, and some people prefer to point cut with scissors.
If you do a search on layering, razoring, blending or point cutting you may come up with some of the past posts. There is alot of info here on this topic, its just a matter of finding it!
Usually you can lightly run a razor over them yourself for a little fine tuning but if you need a more drastic cut I would recommend going to a salon. I recommend going to a salon where they install extensions so you know that they are familiar with them. I would also make sure they know how to razor because this is best way I have found to layer them.
