QuoteReplyTopic: How do I get the yellow outta my hair? Posted: September 16 2006 at 11:37pm
Ok so I dyed, dyed, dyed my dark hair to get it blonde with box coloring and now it is light yellow. Parts of my hair are light orange but its mostly light yellow. Anyway, I think im sposed to use a toner, can anyone tell me an exact name and color of the appropriate toner to buy?
Also, I talked to this Clairol lady and she told me that if I took one of the blond hair colors and like added shampoo to it or something then that could be a good toner for me to use and it would get the yellow out. Is that true? If it is true, like what exactly do I do with that?

i got this one (look at the pic below) and it worked really good but in order for you to see the results dramatictly.. your hair has to be light blonde.. not medium.. not dark.. my hair was light yellow-ish/orange-ish and it did wonders! by the way i got it at sallys and in the color: "silent snow" (it works great at taking away the orange and yellow out of your hair.)

I got the exact same advice on adding shampoo to y color to tone it they told me I would need to do this only once and then continue to use my regular color. I didnt try it though so I guess Im not much help. I did get advice to use a demi color to tone because it deposits color only and doesnt lift
I just did the same thing to my hair yesterday...lightened from dark brown to very bright yellowish-white with some orangey streaks. Used Wella Toner called Silver Lady (T14) mixed with wella clear activator (20 vol) and left it on for about 10 minutes. No yellow or orange left..its a nice platinum shade.
