Hi everyone i am really liking this site! My name is Kristine and i am growing my hair out since five or more months ago. I read a forum about a hair journal and i LOVE that idea so before i start my journal, probably next week, let me tell you about my hair!!
So i was born with "good" straght hair and my mom would style it and braid it and when it was done, it looked soo good. It went past my shoulders and had body and shine. I only got natural perms and only did it once in a while and my mom would only put hollywood beauty products in it. Well around the age of seven, i wanted to manage my own hair. I didn't like her telling me how to wear my hair and her always having to do it. She told me i'd be sorry but "fine," she'd let me do it. So, at night, instead of her braiding it, she told me to put it up at night. Sometimes i'd put it up, sometimes i'd forget and sleep with it out of course, little did i know, that i was creating split ends and damaging my hair.
At this time, my mom just had my little brother Charles so she and my dad were focussed on him lol but she did offer to do my hair at night and when she couldn't my daddy did. I still thought i had everything under control......
My mom began to notice that my hair was breaking off and that is was dry and shorter. She took me to a salon and a woman gave her instructions to do my hair. She took care of it some more and told me that my hair wasn't in good condition. Me being ornery as usual, i didn't listen and i didn't understand
I dont remeber when but at one point i messed around with some scissors and cut locks of my hair. I think it was because it was in my way and i thought that if i cut it, nothing would be damaged.
So atleast four years have gone by with me damaging my hair. Wetting it, putting the wrong things in it and not taking care of it. Last year, i started going on websites like nappturalglory.com and other AA hair care sites to get some help. I apologized for my behavior when i was younger to my mom and now she gladly braids my hair at night and we experience different hair ideas
Now, at the age of twelve, my hair is a little past my shoulders and i have recently gotten a natural perm before school started. (My hair hasn't been done in soo long. At least 5 months. I was going natural) And my hair came out very long! i took pictures of it and now im waiting for the film to develop so i can see how beautiful it looked!!
My hair is thick and can get kinky, never nappy unless it hasn't been done at the salon for ages and it is wet and frizzy.
My hair diet is 3-4 bottles of regular water a day. Because i am still growing i HAVE to eat regular ammounts of fruits and veggies and i'm limiting my intake of sugary foods, candies, sodas etc.
I mousturize (sp) my hair regularly with Hollywood Beauty Carrot creme or Castor oil. These products can be found at any pharmacy or drugstore. I brush it daily with a 100% boar bristle brush and a wide tooth comb to keep my hair straight. My mom braids my hair at night and i sleep with a head scarf on--always, trust me i learned the hard way! And i wash my hair every 2-4weeks with Motions shampoo, conditioner and once in a while scalp moustorizer (sp i dont know how to spell that!) i dont do much of the scalp mousturizer because it has a lot of mineral oil which is really bad for your hair.
Ok well that's all for now!! i'll be starting my hair journal next week, great idea!
bad hair day
