I have Indian hair at the moment and I have been told that it will last me 6-12 months. I have read some bad things about Indian, but I'm loving mine so far (althogh it's only been a little over a week - 3 shampoos).

What are your experieces with it? Also as a hair extension newbie, what should I do to check my hair to make sure that everything is as it should be? I had strand by strand method installed using little metal beads/cylinders. At the moment beads are about one finger away from my scalp.

And how will I know when my hair is starting to go bad? (I guess slight knotting is normal for long hair after a wash)

Thanks girls Smile

VERY good experiences with Indian hair here. VERY good experiences with Asian and "Italian" and other hair as well. Also, all different types of hair have worn both good and bad for me so it's basically a test of time to see how it holds up.

Several of my friends have naturally long hair 20" + and they experience the same bunching and gathering as I do with my long extension hair.

Deep condition and secure it back at the nape in a loose band when it doesn't really need to fall free all the time.

Sounds like the install is not too tight or too loose. That's a good thing. So separate the strands individually on a regular basis to ensure they don't latch onto each other and keep an eye on the area of attachment itself. If broken hairs are sticking up or bending over looking like an umbrella out of the bead, you can open the bead and see if any damage is starting to happen. Your install shouldn't be worn for more than 10-12 weeks, all things considered.

Welcome and keep us posted!

Thanks for the advice Amm. I'm pretty obssesive about my hair at the moment, I brush it all the time (even though I don't really need too) and either wear it tied back loose or in a loose plait when I'm home and when I go to bed. Also deep condition it and put some leave in mousturazing conditioner.

I don't use any styling tools on it, mostly leave it to air dry and it dries straight and frizz free. If I want it wavy/curly, I just plait it (wouldn't want to damage it by using curling thong).

The guy that did them said that he will move them up in 6 weeks, then at 3 months mark he will take them off and put them back on at different positions to minimize the stress on the hair.

If it all works out well, I think I'm going to keep getting extensions for the rest of my life lol!

sounds like you are doing all the right things. I agree with the advice amm has given. Very important to keep those strands separated. I looper brush is a good little brush to have, to brush that area at the bonds. The looper wont snag or catch the bonds.
