Hi,

Has anyone had experience w/ the Hairlocs system?  Just wondering if they would work on african american hair that is relaxed.  I would think that they would slip out due to the oils that we put on our scalp.

I live in the Chicago area.  Any advice on where to find good quality remy hair or an extension stylist would be greatly appreciated.

Has anyone had any experience with Extension Plus in CA?

Which is better- Hairloc system or micro-rings? or are they the same?

Thanks!!

Gabi

Just wondering if they would work on african american hair that is relaxed.  I would think that they would slip out due to the oils that we put on our scalp. When you say oils you have to think realistically, you are going to be treating your hair totally different than you would if you had no attachments on them. What I mean is you will have to use everything in moderation. Our own hair produces oils, but not oil that you purchase out of the store. It would probably be best to take vitamins and alter your diet some, if it not already balanced and drinking plenty of water.Wink

I live in the Chicago area.  Any advice on where to find good quality remy hair or an extension stylist would be greatly appreciated. There are quite a few places that sell remy hair. EP sells our hair a little bit more kinky textured, but once heat applied it straightens beautifully. www.remyhairtoday sells beautiful hair. And divastylehair.com sells beautiful hair. If the last link doesnt work, let me know. She has a salon in Las Vegas.

Has anyone had any experience with Extension Plus in CA?Diva vocals has had positive feedback on the EP hair, she lives by it. She is from CA also PM her she'll give you more info also.

Hairlocs has five different size rings. The microrings come in three different sizes. Depending on your texture and density of your hair will determine the size. Hairlocs has five types of yaki textured hair also. They are both reputable. Hairlocs is the real deal and the microrings are a generic brand of hairlocs.

Goodluck on your search.
Shiry
Thanks!!

hairlocs, are great, it all depends on the install and removal for success and safeness for your hair.
hairlocs, micro rings, there is a difference, however these days everyone is copying them, the "rings" are shorter and wider, the locs, are longer and thinner. i prefer locs, however i sometimes use the silcone lined links.

Hey! I live in Chicago (area) too!

I use microrings, and I don't use the oils and stuff you probably do, but it's the only method of extesions that I have been able to use conditioner around the bonds (even though you aren't ment to, my hair is too dry to run a comb through if I don't) and I have some slippage, but very little.

I've found as long as you don't comb or pull on the extensions while there's the oils around it, and you wait till you wash it clean before combing or pulling, you will be okay.

Hi Gabi:

I have relaxed hair and I LOVED my Hairlocs install.  I didn't have any problems with slippage or breakage.  I had them in for approximately  4.5 months and only lost approx. 10 strands during the whole time.  I didn't experience any shedding either. The hair never tangled and looked great the entire time.  I had two relaxers (re-touches) while I had the Hairlocs installed and didn't experience any problems.  I would highly recommend this method over any others (just my preference).

I don't like fusion because of the glue and the removal process...not to mention, I experienced a great deal of shedding with fusion..which left hair all over the house.  The silicone micro-rings are good too...they just don't close as flat at the Hairlocs and I could easily feel them.  The hairlocs (method) is extremely hard to detect and I had to literally run my fingers thru the scalp to feel the locs.  I often forgot that I had extensions with the Hairlocs installed!  My preference is the Hairloc method but it is really up to the individual as to what you prefer.

I hope this helps.SmileSmile
