QuoteReplyTopic: Anyone used keratin to fuse wefts in? Posted: November 01 2006 at 4:14pm
I used some regular fusion chips to put in a few small wefts of thermo elite a couple of weeks ago and really like it. I'm thinking of using keratin to do a complete install. Anyone tried this before? If the weight is distributed evenly, and I have nice clean parts I'm thinking it may be worth a try. I like the fact of using brown keratin to match the hair/scalp. Any thoughts?

HOw did you melt them onto the weft? I have been wanting to try this, but was afraid I would burn my scalp applying the weft....How did you get around that?? I want details girl!
I put just a teeny spot of LG on the fusion chip and stuck it on the weft of the hair, then I made my clean part and voila!! I used the tip of the fusion wand to melt the fusion chip into the hair that was holding the weft. It only took about 5 seconds to melt the glue,or chip whatever you call it, and then I pressed it real good with the top and bottom layers of hair. Kind of like Sherrie's sandwich method. I have taken some out because after some wear the chip turned that white opaque color. I just used alcohol, and weakened the bond, then a drop of citrus, then a little prayer, and worked it out without too much trouble. I ordered some keratin, gonna try that instead and see what happens. I only used about 1/2 of a chip every 3/4 inches or so, kind of along the lines of e-z weft and the microlink technique. Do you know if there is much difference between the keratin and fusion chips?
AMM: I thought I would go ahead with the install and when It got time to take them out I would come cryin to you or ask for help on the board. Go ahead and bust my bubble and tell me it will be too hard to take out. Seriously, any recommendations before I go into the laboratory?
Oooh, now that sounds interesting...
Do you really need the LG though? I wonder if it would work with just the keratin... .
Thanks and keep us posted, Nomorebaldie!

Yeah you are probably right but I just took the lazy- I mean easy way out and put a tiny fleck on the chip to hold it on the weft. It just made it clean without having to add heat to the chip twice. Has anyone found anything magic other than ETOH to take down the fusion? NO MORE BALDIE (might be more baldie after I take this mess out in a few weeks)
I bought Keratin fusion chips from Yourhairshop.com... fusion chips and keratin are the same thing. Well, in this case anyway.
Good luck with your takedown!
