I've Got Horrible Tangles
Hi I'm new and I need help. My hair has been growing out well for the
past couple of years and it reached to the middle of my back. However
lately it has been breaking off, shedding, and now it is tangling
within itself. It is soo horrible I cannot even brush it. I tried
taking out the tangles but they will not budge!
I need to know if there is a product out there thay specializes in
removing tangles out of african-american hair. I would also like to
know what products are useful in stopping hair shed. I'm not sure
whether I should go see a dermatologist; I really do not have that much
money.
Garlic shampoo is good for shedding. For Tangles- i reccommend a good thick conditioner like Aussie knot Forgotten and use a needle(sewing) to pick the knots out with. Are you sure that your shedding is not just seasonal shedding? Usually when i get tangles really bad, it is time for a trim- when was the last time you trimmed.
For breakage- I reccommend a heavy duty protein treatment followed by a moisturizing conditioner. I reccommend Jherri Redding's 100% natural protein conditioner (2-3 tbls mixed in with cholesterol) w/ a thin plastic cap on and sit under the dryer for 45-60 mins once every 4-6 weeks. For weekly treatments- try Lamaur's bone marrow ( with a thin plastic cap and heat for 45-60 mins).
If you do not have any of these available to you- another good protein treatment is mixing 2 eggs and 3-4 tbls of mayo together- put this on your hair and put a thin plastic cap on and let it sit with out heat for an hour or so. HTH

I totally agree with Carmeldiva. Also when shampooing/washing you should use a great detangler shampoo such as CON (Creme of Nature), also another great detangling product that worked wonders for myself and others (clients) is Mane N' Tale detangling spray. HTH
First of all you have curls and that mean you should never brush you hair. It only creates a hot mess. Try washing your hair with only conditioner, some like V05 or Tresemme. If you want you can leave just alittle still in your hair to condition it more. But the most important thing you must do while washing your hair is take a wide tooth comb in the bathroom with you and comb while conditioning. The slipperiness of the conditioner should be enough to prevent breakage and to ensure easy glide of the comb. This should get rid of most of your tangle problems.
MY mother bids me bind my hair
With bands of rosy hue,
Tie up my sleeves with ribbons rare,
And lace my bodice blue.
