I just spent the last two days washing all of the hair I have in my stash, and I realized that this is a good topic to include here..

I wash all hair I have before installing. If there is a problem with the hair, washing it will allow me to see it before I put it on my head. Also I wash the hair for just plain old santitary reasons.. Hair that has been through warehouses, shipping, and who knows how many hands before it comes to you.

So here's my steps for prepping my remy/remi hair:

I use the "jaw" type clips to hold the hair together.. This allows me to keep the hair together and wash the hair clear up to the weft without any "missed" spots.

1. I create a shallow "bubble bath" of shampoo and warm water in the sink and gently wash the hair by swishing and patting the hair in the "bubble bath".  (I use either Creme of Nature, Sexy Hair Chocolate Soy, or Enjoy shampoos)

2. Rinse with cold water. Squeeze out the excess.

3. Repeat steps 1 and 2

4. Apply a moisturizing conditioner (I prefer Thermasilk Moisturizing Infusing Conditioner) to the hair and gently comb through with a wide tooth comb.

5. I place the hair in a ziploc bag and close partially. I zap the hair in the microwave for 1 minute. (no more) Take the bag out and let the hair cool completely.

6. Rinse with cold water. Squeeze out the excess.

7. Apply a leave in conditioner, hang the hair to dry.

Doing this ensures the hair is free from shipping/handling/warehouse dirt, and will allow me to see the hair's TRUE characteristics.

lol, that makes me want to go pop all my hair stash into the microwave and nuke it now!

also, for me as a protac tape user, my final step is to shampoo just the weft part with prell shampoo and rinse so i can be sure the tapes stick
