QuoteReplyTopic: Flat irons? Posted: December 11 2006 at 12:38am
I currently have a conair flat iron and over the past few years my hair has been getting drying and looks like crap most of the time. I came to this site
and read about a sedu and others. Should I look into getting a different iron and which one.
I am a male with medium length and don't have much money, but would really like to have great hair. My hair is wavy and looks like a mop or afro unless I use an iron.

The true ceramic pro, for what I've heard has a tendency to short out, and the manufacturer won't honor the warranty.
You do need to get a good ceramic iron. The conair one is a metal iron and all it does is fry your hair.
Sedu is great, I personally have one. But you can get a Solia wich is just as good and is only $85 if you get the 1" model. Use a good deep conditioner such as Redken all soft heavy cream. Before you iron, put on a little Redken Heat Glide. 1 or 2 pumps is all it takes. It is $15 but lasts well over a year, so it is worth it. You won't believe the difference. Check out my picture at Folica.com. Look at the reviews for the Sedu 1 1/4 inch iron. At the bottom of the page click on page 5. You can find my review there. It is titled "I love this thing" and it is under my nickname (Shary). Also click on page 3. There are pictures of two little girls there. They are my nieces. Look how curly their hair is and how straight I got it.
You won't belive what a diffence a good iron makes.
I think the true ceramic pro is the one on the infomercial, does it have red plates? On the infomercial you can see the iron skipping on one of the model's hair. This will leave a crimped look that you have to wet and redo.
I have the conair infinity 1 inch and 2 inch, I like them, and they seal the straight better than the metal plates.
