QuoteReplyTopic: HELP!! bleached hair :[ Posted: February 22 2007 at 7:29am
well, i got my hair bleached at the hairdressers, and it turned out almost white at the roots, but the bottom abit darker, i didn't want it this light, and it was a total mess, so she said she'd fix it, but she just made the bottoms really light too :[
so i bought a blonde hair dye out of salon services, but this didn't take effect on my hair what so ever
so then i bought a medium/dark blonde,( to me it looked brown n not blonde) and that's turned my hair like a ash blonde, but it looks grey and a tad green depending on how the light hits it
can some1 give me advice on fixing this mess asap?
will i just need to dye it black? or will a blonde actually take over it? as i really dont suit dark hair, but if that's my only option im willing to do, cz the way it is the now, its HIDEOUS :'[
I would go back to the hairdresser and tell her you didn't want it that
white. Did you tell her that when you were there the first
time? If you did and she didn't listen to you, she needs to fix
it for free. If you didn't make yourself clear, then we can't
exactly blame her, so you may have to pay again to get it fixed in that
case.
Don't dye it black, from white, chances are pretty good it will just
come out purple, blue, or some other bright and unpleasant color that
is worse than the white you have now (the gray/green tinge you have now
will likely wash out in a few shampoos if you decided to just leave
it).

I'm not a hair dresser, but it sounds like she stripped all of the red and orange pigment from your hair, thus when you colored it turned green/gray because you got an ash color. You need some warm pigments put back into the hair, but you better go to a colorist because you need a protein fill, otherwise any dye that you out in will fade really fast since there is not much pigment left in the hair for it to stick. The drugstore color formulas are not precise enough to neutralize the mistake. You need a custom formula from a colorist that will appear natural. I really don't think you should attempt to correct it by yourself because you need to mix colors from scratch and you need knowledge of color theory, plus your hair is pretty weak. If you want to tone down the green, your might want to get a hair rinse like roux (sp?) with a reddish tint and apply to the hair. It's not damaging. Like said, I'm not a hairdresser so you better consult with a professional that knows about color correction. Good luck!

One more thing, if you go back to the hairdresser just be carefull, because she sounds like she had great difficulty doing the job the first time, and that is worrying because bleaching evenly I think is something a beginner hairdresser should be able to do. She messed up a pretty basic task by letting your roots lift to much to begin with.
