QuoteReplyTopic: Buzz cut...bleached out semi perm color Posted: April 25 2007 at 12:49am
I had some very strong semi permanent color(Special Effects) in my hair. I got my hair cut today very short and then later in the evening I bleached out the semi permanent color(burgundy & orange). I'm left with yellow & orange(faint) colors.
What colors do you think will suit this style? I am looking for something somewhat bold, but more natural, maybe light auburn or red. Do you think that it will work correctly if I use a semi perm or color correction? I'm worried maybe the yellow or the orangish colors will cause problems.

The advantage to hair this short is that you can't really mess it up because cumulative damage will never be a problem. Semi permanent red should go over that fine - the worst thing that could happen is that it comes out brighter than you wanted, so you may want to choose a browny shade of red to start with and expect that it might come out brighter red than it looks. After which you could always go over it again in a brownish red shade if you so chose. If you don't like it though, since its so short you would only have to remove the color again and go again if you didn't like it.

I used a coppery color...Color Gems 7.46(L'Oreal). I had heard that Color Gems came out somewhat darker than the swatch colors. It worked pretty well, I think. The color is even, despite the fact that my color was NOT even after bleaching my buzz. Yippee! I'm still getting used to having so little hair. I've buzzed the back of my head down to nothing, but I've never gone so short all over.
