Valentine was kind enough to send me some
samples of both the augenmerk and the PH (which means I also got to see
her great handmade wefts! the're excellent in person let me tell you )
I thought I'd share my thoughts since I'm new to synth and might have a different perspective.
Augenmerk is very very fine. (she sent me the straight texture FYI)
Before I played with it a bit and while it was in its 'travelled
several hundred miles state' it felt very plasticy to me, almost like
plastic shreddings. So I sprayed with lots of Velvasil, flat ironed and
combed it out, then trimmed the ends so it was closer to the length I
would deal with typically. It felt SO great after that. Much softer,
WAY less plasticy. It has less of a shine then PH has Valentine
mentioned as well. I would of used a curling iron to see how that does,
but I don't have one.
PH was a blend of two colors. It too had some tangles from the travel,
but I was able to work them out as well with the velvasil and some
finger combing. This sample was the wavy. And its a BEAUTIFUL wave. I
got a bit impaitent and didn't want for my flat iron to cool all the
way before touching it, so it scorched a little bit. The fiber dosen't
feel quite as odd to me as the Augen does, its a bit thicker and a bit
slicker. More more like my own hair is. Its not as soft, but its
smoother so I like that.
So my conculsion. For me, having very silky but thicker hair strands, I
think PH is a bit better a match for extensions. For my wigs, I'm
probably going with the Augenmerk because it can cold up to heat better
and I'll be doing a lot of styling. I don't do a ton of styling with my
hair other than straighten it on occasion - but it sounds like my hot
showers will straighten the PH some should I desire.
now off to order hair!!
oh and I TOTALLY understand what everyone says about the smell of Velvasil now!
