QuoteReplyTopic: Stripes. ie: Different colored roots. Posted: October 21 2007 at 7:48pm
I bleached my roots the other day. I lifted them from a copper color to a peach color... so why on earth would they not take the Ultralight ash color I commonly use?
I usually once my black roots start to show too much for my liking, is just lift it with the Ultra Light Ash blonde, so it lifts them to a copper color.
Once the copper is too noticable, I thought I would just lift them and then put the all over color. Well it didn't work.... what could I do to fix it? I'll post a pic later.

Yeah, it sounds like you aren't getting them lifted enough. The ash color probably has a violet base and would counter yellow if you lifted them that high, but violet won't counter peach as they both have some red in them.

I did use a bleach. I bleached them to a peach color.... I may have to bleach them longer I guess. I just didn't want to leave it on too long and get bad breakage.

Here is a photo of it. I'm almost Platium. I'm using OTC products... I always use Ultra light ash, to tone, cause it is violet and when my roots get too noticble I bleach. Last time I used Manic panic and it was wonderful, but at the time I wasn't in the area to get it. I hate the stripe... but i like it better than black roots.... for sure!!! LOL

That's not bad, but you do need to bleach longer for a plat color. Here check this site out. The roots need to be bleached to a pale yellow or inside of a banana color. You can probably bleach again.
Haha, Hey skydreem. It was a LOONGGG Trial and Error process.
I have naturally dark hair, which was dyed black during my pregnancy. (Previously I was dyed blonde before that.)
So it took a few bleach jobs to get it so light and so far I've found that Manic Panic's bleach works best for lifting and keeping your a bit more healthly looking than other bleaches I've tried. I have only used OTC products, and stick with using Ultra Light Ash blonde, (so far I've only found LOREAL' making it.) as a toner. I only bleach re-growth. So far my only trouble is getting the re-growth the same color as my very processed ends... such a struggle.
What color is your natural haircolor? And the color of your hair now?
yeah long time, but now i here more offend, dark brown, i hate to see dark roots. ohhh so when you get this lift, you keep bleaching JUST the dark roots and then tone witth the LOREAL ash blonde toner..nice!!!
so you need to bleach the more them 1 to get that color right??
once again- I LOVE YOUR HAIR COLORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I love your hair color! I'm letting my color grow out some.Plus, I want it to be healthy when I get it done blonde again.I always think I want it the color I have, then I change my mind way too much, lol! Anyways, good luck on your hair.I sure hope it works for u.I'd hate to see that pretty blonde turn a yuck color.Oh, I almost forgot to tell u.U can get a color depositing condiotner for your blonde hair to.That way after u color it.It will stay blonde & it will add color as well. Plus it keeps u from having to color as often. There are some many good things about it.It's called Artec color.U should look it up online. They have it for diff. hair colors.I use Mahgoney for my red color.I was on here just looking at people's hair problems, then I saw yr pic & now want mine blonde again. It will get rid of yellow & ugly brassy tones to.Well, good luck & tell us about the out come of your hair.

Why thank you Slipknot! I'll look that hair shampoo up.
My hair looks WAYYYY better in outside light as I've found out. It doesn't even show the stripe outside for some reason!... on Camera anyways. Hmmm.... My hair isn't really really healthy anymore. It def, isn't going to fall out, but it's not silky anymore... not that it really ever was. Again going for the fake look. HAHA! :)

Outside you can't notice any re-growth, plus indoors that color is beautiful too. Do you use creme & pull it through to the ends or just re-color the roots & wash.
I use Ott lites - for beading or hobbies, are supposed to be like Outdoor light..
Happy Birthday to your lil sweetie one (early)

It might not be that your roots are that much darker, it could be just the lighting.
I'm a very light naturalblonde, and some days, in certain places, it will look as if my roots are several shades darker than the rest of my color. I wouldn't be too concerned that your roots aren't quite the same color, unless of course they're a few inches long.
Strangely enough, as I'm writing this, this add appears in the top left corner: See the dark roots?
Bambilee can you use salon products? Because I just did my dark brown roots with goldwell blonding creme and 30 developer and they came out white. No bleach needed and really nice!
