Hi everyone -

I posted this same question on the long hair board but have only gotten one response so maybe people here have more experience . . .

I have a short, layered "bed head" crop, about 2.5 inches pretty much all over. I want to grow it out but ultimately I still want to have some layers, even when it is long. I`m not sure then if it is necessary to get it to "all one length" to grow it. I was wondering if anyone had style suggestions for transitioning from short to long that don`t involve having a one-length short bob for a year. I`m afraid this cut is going to be a nightmare to grow!

You are in luck... from the way you decscribe you cut in this post and your response to the bed head question. It sounds to my like you just need to get it trimmed and shaped up every now an again. Sounds like you already know how to use products so your style can look great with a lot of defferent lengths... from quite short to very long. Note Britney Daniels on wireimage as she grew out her pixie after Joe Dirt. Meg Ryans progression, Halle Barry at different times... even the wig she wore in the Pepsi commercial is alonger version of her classic style... Jaime Presslys new do... so many more... Keep us posted on you progress!

I suddenly feel so "unhip" who is Britney Daniels and what is wireimage? Also who is Jaime Presslys? Where might I find a current photo of them? Thanks for your reply, hope I can stand it long enough to actually get to at least my shoulders!

go to the following link

http://www.wireimage.com

There is a box for a search, type in the name of your favorite celeb, and see how they looked at various public events!

I DONT THINK YOU SHOULD GROW IT OUT, I THINK YOU SHOULD INVEST IN A GOOD SET OF CLIPPERS AND SHAVE YOUR HEAD WITH A #3...KEEP THE BANGS BUT SHAVE THE REST OF THAT CRAP OFF...SHAVE IT WITH A #1 UP THE BACK OF YOUR NECK, A VERY NICE NAPE SHAVE

I have fine hair cut in a pixie that I have been growing out for a month or two. I just measured it and it is 4 whole inches! I've oredered several types of vitamins from the internet (not H37 or anything expensive, just biotin and others from Drugstore.com). I've been massaging my scalp with the pads of my fingers when I think of it and I'm hoping that it will stimulate growth. We shall see. So, in the meantime I'm walking around with really awful looking hair pinned over with a clip so don't feel bad! My own reflection scares me! : 0

I have been growing out that exact haircut since last summer. I now have a chin length inverted bob that is getting better all the time. I don't really want layers though so your grow out could be lots easier. I would consult with your hair stylist of choice about a grow out plan that will still look good through the process.

I was at my hair stylists' yesterday and they have a new product that comes from Italy that they claim will cause hair to get thicker, grow faster, and actually generate new hair growth. I didn't buy it because I wanted to research it first. It is Hercan or something like that and is actually 10 treatments that you massage into your scalp once a week. It was $35.00 for the 10 treatments which come in a can and inside the can are these vials with a blue substance in them. Has anyone ever heard of this product? I am not sure I got the name right but most of the writing on the can was in Italian.

Actually, I had a similiar style (Halle Berry) earlier this year and I am in the process of growing it out. My hair is now collar length and the back is still layed and it looks great. My cut is now similar to the style Oprah has right now (flipped up at the back). I use a small flat iron to get the back to flip it. Actually it is now my favorite style on me! The growing out part was not too difficult.
