QuoteReplyTopic: Oster Classic 76s Guards vs. Standard Home Guards Posted: September 22 2008 at 1:29pm
Random, I know we've all talked about this topic before but let me just bring it back up to be clear. Because I know it used to confuse me why my 2wtg @ the barbershop was pretty low compared to a 2wtg @ home that cant do anything.
Most barbershops use the Classic 76's to do the buzz, and tape you up with the standard ones.
Classic 76 guards also fit PowerLine, Andis Excel, and Wahl Rapid Fire Clippers I hear but I haven't seen these. I will also convert the length of the Osters to 8ths of an inch for comparison purposes because it makes it easier to imagine comparing them to the lengths of the home guards that I know pretty well.
#0 (no attachment) - 1/100 inch, #1 - 1/8 inch #2 - 1/4 inch #3 - 3/8 inch #4 - 1/2 inch #5 and #6 - special tapering attachments #7 - 7/8 inch #8 - 1 inch
Oster. Oster clippers which use Blades are often used in military barber shops (they are powered by a motor instead of an electric vibrating device and tend to stay cooler during heavy use). Blades used on Oster clippers include:
00000 - 1/125 inch 0000 - 1/100 inch 000 - 1/50 inch 0A - 3/64 inch 1 - 3/32 inch 1A - 1/8 inch 1-1/2 - 5/32 inch 2 - 1/4 inch 3-1/2 - 3/8 inch
