Ok I went to a solon to have my already dark brown hair touched up and have some caramel highligts added. She use Chi color 6cm for the brown and of course bleach for the highlight. Well it turned out a mess. The brown is a mixture of orange/brassy brown, however it looks red. the highlights are not blonde they are a brassy light red. She used toner and then tried to add some more dark, but got the same result. She now suggest putting a 5N all over my hair to tone down the red/brass look. But this will not give me what I originally wanted. so what do I do? Will the 5N get my dark brown hair back? will it get rid of the red/brass tones? Since I just moved this is her first time coloring my hair. Her salon uses a different color product line. Would this cause the disaster? I want to know before i go back on tues. any professional advice?

The 5N will give you your darker brown back, but will cover any hi lights you have got, and will give Carmel hi light.
I am just trying to figure out what went wrong. If you have has previous colour on your hair (colour build up) can cause your hi lights to only lift by the red stage, also maybe not leaving the bleach on long enough and or not using a 40 vol developer to get through previous colour.
As you hi lights a brassy/red tone they 5N may tone them down to a caramel colour, however you may still get the warmth showing through after you wash your hair a few times.
